Riyad Mahrez

I'm all for doing summer business now, but if we weren't planning on being in for Mahrez in the summer why would we get him in January? I always got the impression we identified players much longer term. This feels far too knee jerk.

What do they need a replacement for though ? To help them confirm that they can play their reserve team in the Europa League next season ?

Many of the agents, managers etc will fuck off on holiday etc next season & the transfer window shuts early August.

I'm sure that's why we are doing this now rather than because of Sané or ffp.
His transfer request was submitted in the summer, his latest one means nothing. It's just reiterating and trying to put pressure on the club, which won't work.

Chelsea bid £15m for Drinkwater on the summer deadline and we told them to get screwed despite his transfer request until we got what we wanted. Which was £35m. We got it and the transfer happened.

So far, if the bids are true then they are nothing more than an insult to the club You cannot buy centre backs for £57m, with no prem experience. And then expect to take the best player from a cash rich premier league team, a player who has won the title and the player of the year award, has more goals and assists than Coutinho and Hazard in the last 3 years, for less.

If he goes I'm happy for him to go to you guys over the others as I can't stand any of them and I've love seeing him in your set up. He'd thrive. I'm just annoyed about the timing an the pathetic bid, considering the market at the moment and the form he's in.

This also bang on the money. We ain't negotiating with Swansea here

Re wide players we have Sane, Sterling and B Silva. Plus Diaz can come in and do a job. Also Jesus has played wide right before too.

Is Mahrez really essential? At £60m? I’m vey torn but realise I’m probably in the minority.

Good post but hardly a "pathetic" bid.
What do you value him at?

Yep, bang on. I for one hope we meet the asking price. He'd be incredible under Pep.

The teansfer request does mean something.

It means Leicester save a shitload of money. It doesn't matter what happened in the summer. In the summer Alexis Sanchez was ready to sign for City on half the wages Utd are now paying him.

Do you think Mahrez will be worth 90 mil next summer if Leicester turn this down now ?

I wouldn't pay it now. Decent chance he'll be fat & smoking 20 a day by May if this doesn't go through It's probably his last chance unless he fancies Arsenal.

Good post and if we want him we should pay the price Leicster want for him, but we will have a ceiling but if defenders are costing £50m +. Marhez is worth a hell of a lot more

The winning bid is 59 mill, what your getting fed today and tonight is the goings on since Sanchez was no more,
Weeks of negotiations getting played out through the media as they would like but already done and dusted.
Take my word on it.

you forgot one thing.
last summer he didn't have Kia Joorabchian as his agent.
the same agent who brought Tevez from Rag to City.
Doesn't make any difference to the fact that as his transfer request was in, any valuation we placed on him already took that into account.

He can have the devil himself as his agent, but he has two and a half years left on his contract. If your board want the player, then they can have him for what we'd consider a reasonable bid in the current market.

I'm sure there is a deal to be done if your side really want him. The owners are friends with the players and there is a lot of mutual respect, they don't like to stand in peoples way, but they also won't have the piss taken. £55m for Mahrez will be see as an insult.

Chuck in another £10m cash, lots of add ons and wipe out the Iheanacho buy back and a chunk of the remaining fee. I'm sure there is a middle ground.

I'd rather keep him as he's priceless to us, no fee will ever get us as good a replacement. He's a sensational player, come the summer he'll be worth £100m+ and we all know it down here.

Spot on really. I was just thinking about Leicester selling Drinkwater for £35m, no way they’re going lower than £70m.

Not that bothered if it happens or not,but with joorabchian being his agent you can bet he will be doing everything to get this one over the line this bloke has more tricks up his sleeve than the masked magician ffs..
