Good move for Leicester to have a good relationship with City and all the talent starting to emerge from our academy. Needs to happen very soon though.

Kevin De Bruyne played central midfield at Genk and Fabian Delph played LB for Leeds.

Which by the way is fucking irrelevant because what you're saying is a oplayer can't play in the position he's spent his entire career in. It's the equicalent of "Fabian Delph can't play CM" " Kevin De Bruyne can't play as an attacking midfielder" Which is obviously bollocks.

Bernardo Silva has played his entire career out wide.

And by the way, I'm completely in favour of this transfer, but can't stand people being wilfully stupid to try and convince themselves we're in an untenable position without this (likely not to happen) transfer.

You said bernardo has spent his entire career out wide, I used those as examples of Pep not neccessarily seeing things the same as others. Bernardo can play wide, of course he can, but in peps system he doesn't have the attributes needed from a wide man, namely pace and playing him out wide results in either a change of tactic or we lose penetration down the right, I fully believe you can, and youre just picking out something nobody is really saying but If you can't see how he would and eventually will fit like a glove into one of those central two positions and was boughtwith that in mind then it's not worth watching football.

I don't think anybody is really claiming were in an untenable position without Mahrez, they're simply pointing out the fact we currently have one fit winger and 3 fit players for 3 positions. If we have the same number tomorrow, its not the end of the world but it is then extremely unlikely to be enough to maintain our form so far this season.

Sound like poetry for me... :

silva_shoelaces Shakespeare

We have no fucking backup wingers
Bernado is not a fucking winger
Diaz is 18 and not a fucking winger
Foden is 17 and not a fucking winger
We have TWO fucking senior players for our attacking THREE fucking positions
Mahrez is the best available fucking winger in the Premier League
Some similar level fucking wingers are older and/or unavailable
Other similar fucking wingers are younger and/or inexperienced
Mahrez has won the fucking Premier League with fucking Leicester and got the fucking POTY
We are in 4 fucking competitions. That is potentially 27 fucking matches.
People want to play for 6 fucking weeks with ONE fucking winger.

Reckon there's a song in there somewhere?

It's a reasonable offer a certainly more acceptable, I just think the club have VVD money in their mind... £65m, £5m pretty much nailed on bonuses and wipe £5m off what we owe for Iheanacho... this is like playing football manager.

I think what people need to remember is that in our form we're chasing 6th and Europe. Mahrez is the difference between finishing 6th and 12th or lower for us. When you're talking about £2m+ per position, plus lack of Europe. Losing him now could potentially COST us £15-20m this season alone, let alone going forward.

It's not just about how good he is, it's about his worth to us.
Bang on. I personally don't think it will happen, as there's a whiff of the summer Sanchez deal about it. He'd be a cracking signing for any club, but as you've pointed out, he's extremely important to Leicester for the remainder of this season.

Any chance of foxes letting Mahrez leave without replacement? Thinking of Arses in 2013 (van persie)?

They already have one who played in the cup at the weekend for them, Fousseni Diabate (two goals) scored nine minutes into his Leicester City debut

Its hard doing deals in the summer because of the World Cup. Players get no time off and have to concentrate solely on training with the national team, they can’t really negotiate too much during as it’s seen as a distraction then when it’s over they usually go away and get extended holidays and miss the start of the season !

I love that we’re doing everything we can now to prepare for August and the new season

Sure it’s been said already but I doubt this deal is a knee jerk reaction to the Sane injury... I think we have been in for Mahrez since the Dirty$anchez deal went south... it’s just that nobody gets a sniff out of the club these days... till the 11th hour...

Too many if's and buts to make this happen at this late stage I think as a few others have said. Clubs wanting replacements, getting players to move, agree terms, have medicals etcetera.

No idea if anything was promised to Mahrez behind the scenes. I can't remember if he signed a new contract recently but if he did and his agent didn't get a release clause in it if certain criteria were met then he is a plank.

I think 60 million is a fair price whether Leicester do or not is up to them. As foxed up rightly said they are a club that don't have to sell to survive. They also have Thai owners who don't like to lose face so I am not sure Mahrez trying to force their hand is a productive move.

I hope we get a forward in as in spite of how well.we are doing after the Sanchez fiasco and the Sane injury we could do with a lift.

Don't forget the transfer window in England closes a day before the season starts in 2018 as well.
With that & the world cup going on, it'll be just as hard in the summer to get deals over the line as it is in this window.

And on Mahrez, City made Leicester pay over the odds to sign Iheanacho for £25m last summer, so that may be remembered today.
Wonder if that full transfer has been paid. If only half for instance the quotes of 55 -60 could in effect be 67 -72m with ourselves writing the debt off. Leicester get a higher fee City get the player for a what seems a "lower" fee.
