I feel a lot more at ease when I know Merlin is going to be back in fully expect him and kdb to run the show as per and with kun looking sharp again let’s put them to bed hopefully early.

Just a side note on madley he used to teach at the same school as me before going pro as a ref he’s a massive Utd fan and the state of the decisions he throws against us shows how incompetent he is

Madley is the worst ref I've seen..fans need to make it a cauldron tonight..make it clear..one bad tackle tonight get on his back and West broms.. Come on boo boys!!!

I think what you are inferring is he is corrupt or biased and if what you are saying is the case then most would agree with that sentiment.

No team flies through Christmas and into January - heavy pitches at some grounds (to say nothing of the mountain of injuries), but our grind through this phase of the season is a cut above the rest. Get the Prem sorted in a couple of months, go flat out in the League Cup Final, game manage the Wigan fixture and let's see where maximum effort in the Champions League takes us.

Performances have slumped though, I think it's just reflective of how shit some of our opposition is that we only lost 1 game.

And I think the big league lead has changed our level of expectations because if we only wanted to win the league and a cup then we're in fine form, it's only because we are targeting CL success and 3 or 4 trophies this season that form is a problem because we're playing like a decent league winning side at the moment, not an all-conquering treble wining side.

There aren't many precedents in this country for what we're trying to do, other than the rags in 99. When that lot up the road won the treble, performance wise, they were distinctly average for most of the season. They won the league by 1 point with 79 points (13 draws 3 losses), they were second best in the semi final of the fa cup (missed pen/offside goal) and the final of the Champs league they were absolutely battered by Bayern for 90 mins and scored twice at the death.

My point is, this "slump" is comfortably better by all metrics than our only real measuring stick (rags 99). Without a doubt, we need to have a great season to win any big trophy, let alone a treble, But, we also need the rub of the green, because we're not always going play well and win. Very few teams in history have played as consistently well as we have so far. The treble winning rags, were nowhere near as good as we have been, I'm still optimistic we can shove the treble back up their arses in good style.

Dont like getting ahead of myself , but if beat West Brom tonight and Burnley in the Saturday early kick off we could be 17 or 18 points clear before the Rags kick a ball on Saturday , especially as the Rags have a difficult game at Spuds tonight as well , if they get a draw at Wembley it will be a decent result. Maybe then the penny will drop and the PEG will put all his efforts into winning the champs league , although i was in Seville last week and got talking to a couple of their fans , and despite Seville not playing their best they were clearly confident of beating the Rags.

There is a feel good factor around WBA at the moment, I suspect this will be a lot tougher than a few on here are predicting. 0-0 or 1-1 half time and then we eventually wear them down 2-1 and I'd be ecstatic about that!

Agree with this. The fans need to make some noise to say we are not happy with bad tackles. I also think the players needs to make more of a fuss when a bad tackle goes in. We should not put up with our players being subjected to thuggery.

It seems like you've deliberately misinterpreted my comment. The entire point of the post was to say that while we have technically gotten back to winning ways, we arne't at the point we were before Liverpool, so the sentiment of needing another win or 3 to get things moving again, put it behind us etc. stands firm.

I would never deliberately misinterpret yours or anyone else's comment, what would be the point. However if I mistakenly misinterpreted it I apologise. I do however retain the right to politely disagree, pre Liverpool we had looked like it was only a matter of time before we tripped up for some time, post Liverpool a few of the players, Sane for example looked like they had a weight lifted from their shoulders, in my humble opinion. No offence was intended however.

I worry about that lunatic James Maclean running around like a headless chicken scything down anything within reach. Remember the previous game at the Hawthorns when he came on as a late sub and launched himself on at least 3 occasions and took out City players ? He was only on the pitch about 10 minutes and could have been sent off for any of those tackles. I'm not sure he even got a yellow card - I could be wrong. Another serious injury is that last thing we need.
Silva fucking clattered the **** and called him a puta afterwards n’all, loved that

Any news on Jesus?

5 weeks minimum was what Pep said in the press conference. The only grey area, might have been translation.. was Pep meaning we lost Leroy and Jesus for 5 more weeks, meaning, future AND past tense. The only yardstick we have as fans looking in, is he's not trained with a ball or outside running with the team yet. That would fit the delay Pep talks about.
However, if lost in translation and he meant a past tense. He does have a photo on an exercise bike with NO brace. However he was with Mendy who isn't back for another 3months... so that doesn't tell us anything.

Physio Room are ok at rough dates and they said mid-Feb..

Danny Rose the most recent to suffer an MCL was out for 34 days*

*EDIT:
At the time, the England international was expected to be ruled out for only a month but the injury has proven to be more problematic than originally envisaged.

And then he was out for nine months... having had to have surgery, and now he's suffered another reoccurance. Now you see why Mahrez is on the radar!

Early goal and good fast start essential tonight. No doubt we'll face a parked bus though they have 2 forwards in decent form and Sturridge is likely to be on the bench. Pardew suggests they'll be physical not dirty so probably some rough housing of our players tonight.

Would like to see us keep a clean sheet tonight 3-0.

And none of our players seriously maimed !

That fucking lunatic MacLean will be charging into our players like a rogue elephant, with Madley watching on and only dishing cards out to City players for protesting.
