Burnley (A) Post Match Thread

I agree mate...its going to be a long 5 weeks while we wait for Sane/Jesus! Diaz is a talented kid but not ready to be the 1st/only option off the bench every week....as mentioned in the transfer thread, the only thing that can stop us, is ourselves and the lack of depth hurt us today...we had no options when Aguero/Silva/Sterling couldnt get it done.

The bench was incredibly weak from an offensive perspective.

Having said that we should have won the game. We are not taking enough chances away from home in particular in recent games. We have to be more clinical. That game today was two points tossed away.

Agreed. Sterling has an incredible football brain, his runs are amazing. He just lacks technical ability at times.
Spot on one of our smartest players In regards to runs,positioning..just like you said technically he's not the best at times.
Very much lacks confidence aswell with his finishing at times.
Brilliant player though who has come on leaps and bounds this season.
Let's continue to get behind him!

I agree totally, not been impressed with Sergio for a while, now but not allowed to say, because if you do you get abuse, it should be retitled post match love in, where no one is allowed an opinion unless it is to say how great every player played

Well people will disagree with you, when you post stuff like jack shit. He wasn't at his best, but he was martialled well and had to drop deep a lot,
to see any of the ball. But that created space for the others to attack. Which they did. It's not his fault we didn't take the chances we should have.

I was on about Jesus.

I am surprised we haven’t bought an alternative though. I’m not sure why we are running with one striker for pretty much 3 months when we could have solved this issue in January.

Not true, 3 players square of him for a pass today, but no takes weak shot straight at keepers chest, 2 more occasions can make a pass does nothing but dribble and lose it, again gets in to space and plays shit pass to raz, and other occasions he could have had a shot but wanted one touch to many, people can disagree with me as much as they want, but it won't change my opinion

Quite good at home are Burnley.

Except when they play a top 6 side. It was a poor result today given their form and the chances we had.

However, I’d be more concerned if we were not creating chances.

The gap is huge though so we have some leeway but this squad looks threadbare currently and with the CL ahead, I’m just surprised we haven’t addressed it other than with a defender that perhaps we could have done without.

I am not sure Pep is sold on a out an out striker, more of a fluid attacking front three, anyway that’s what I have seen in the past when I was in Spain.

I will say it......Sergio has been under performing for a while, tommo I agree with your comments 100%. Love Sergio for what he has given us but feel his time is coming to an end .....
A few were not good enough today, rest time and we go again next week.

That's fine. So he did do something, so not jack shit ;-)

Last 10 matches including cups: W7-D2-L1, so no panics.

Last 3 away league games without a win.
Next away is Arsenal.
But in our position we don't need to win, for now.

Btw, fair play to Burnley and their fans. They needed our mistakes, but they took in a fair way what we've offered to them.

Ederson is incredible, he has saved our arse in style.
Ah and thanks to the Blues in good voice.

While pep praised the team after todays game he will be slightly concerned about the high percentage of clear cut chances we pass up in almost every game.
When we come to the crunch games in the latter stages of the cups he will be worried that we are not clinical enough, and in games where we get fewer chances it is crucial that we put more away.
Our overall play is superb and that's the piece of the jigsaw that will decide whether this is a good season or a great one.

Been saying this since December,we are mullering teams yet so wasteful in front of goal that its reached epidemic proportions. We now need 5 chances per goal. In Europe we won't get that..

Beat Chelsea and draw to arsenal would be good.
