Arsenal (A) Post Match Thread

The weather in the UK is shocking (our TV news is showing the snow etc) - I sincerely hope that those Blues that traveled down to London all returned home safely.

Bernardinho!

Excellent snippet!

However, this is the second time Sané has wandered into a potentially offside position on a City goal. It would have been very easy for the linesman to raise his flag and let the ref know that Sané was in an offside position and looked like he may have been crossing the keepers sight line for the shot.

Sané had a damned good game and got some MOTM plaudits, so I’m not trying to say he played poorly. But, he needs to not ”switch off” when he doesn’t have the ball, especially when he wanders into the box on an attack. He is a very young lad and will continue to learn his craft under Pep. Indeed, in his after-match interview he gave Pep props for improving his game.

When players like Carragher are calling you “Giggs at his best” in your early 20s, you know you have abilities that know no bounds. From here, it is up to him how good he wants to be.

"Mentally we were strong. We were clinical. We scored three outstanding goals. After that it was not easy - the first 15 minutes of the second half we were poor. Still, it's an amazing result for us."

Which clown on here wrote that? FFS, we've just beaten Arsenal 3-0 for the second time in 5 days, can't you just enjoy the win without all this negative shit!

Pretty much sounds like what Guardiola said.
Pep said it! Word for word.
Yes, he did - on the BBC website - well spotted!. It's a good thing he didn't post it on here or he'd have got a right telling off like a couple of posters did who dared to suggest our defence wasn't great against Basel.

Literally walked in the house having spent all night on a train creeping from London to Newport. Pleased we got the three points and played the game, but there was no thought for the fans. Anyways would I it again yes cause it was a great atmosphere and fantastic first half performance.

Good result but in truth a rather patchy performance. Some very sloppy passing (Kompany and Gundogan) but some absolutely sublime as well. Walker and Aguero very impressive again.

The second half performace looked like the players were trying to save energy for sunday. Disagree about Kompany. Thought he had a flawless game in my opinion. According to whoscored.com he had a 86 % pass completion, only Gundogan and Sane were better with 92 & 94 %. His passing was superb under pressure in the build up to the 3rd goal, and even had a phenomenal long range pass to Sane in the second half.

I'm not always swayed by the pass completion rate. Kompany under hit quite a few passes, which meant the recipient either had to work very hard to get the ball or was was put in a position where he surrendered possession. The same was true for Gundogan, and a number of others, too. I agree with the energy conservation point, however; think that's something we're collectively adept at doing.

Good point on his running into the keeper's line of sight; I'm surprised Wenger never mentioned it. :-)
