Chelsea (H) Post Match Thread

I’m not saying anything about the passing, it was beautiful. We gave the ball away under no pressure at all quite a few times, I’m not slating us I’m just making an observation ffs.

Errrrrr . . . if we "gave the ball away under no pressure" and you are criticizing that, then you ARE saying something "about the passing". Which is why all and sundry are calling your post inane.

Think the lads need so much credit for this week....3 games in 7 days, it could have been very easy to take the foot off the gas and drop points after the emotions of the final last week but we came out fighting and were able to control the games from start to finish! GO BLUES!!!!!!

No, if we have different views about what happened in the game that’s fair enough we can debate that. It’s the continued dig thrown at me which I don’t appreciate, that’s what I don’t like.

Then change the record because its your post history that leads me to make the comment in the first place and i'm not alone in seeing it either.

I know you're a blue and i know you are surrounded by Liverpool fans in your life but at times its like you have Stockholm syndrome with them and you really do gush about them and Klopp a little bit too much for a non fan imo and its just my opinion.

That aside do you still think we give the ball away too much or do you feel you might have been a tad harsh and too quick with that observation?

Rent boys no shots on target, says it all really

...with zero shots during 1st half by the way...

This has to be the most embarrassing Chelsea performance in the Abramovich era -which, of course, is not reflected in the final scoreline...

Teams like Southampton have shown more ambition playing at the Etihad. We are talking about a top team, champions last season, we are also talking about a team entering the pitch with a very serious advantage in terms of energy (which, by the way, was the decisive factor, the energy levels I mean, in the City win at the SB, according to Conte and several Chelsea players...). Nevertheless Chelsea had already surrendered immediately after Bernardo's goal in 47'!!!

That was some experience: During the entire 2nd half City could have literally played the ball around the midfield area, with Gundo, David, Ota, Laporte, Oleks, Kyle, Kevin etc exchanging passes between them, playing pig (= Hazard) in the middle, like a training session. Conte's players would not dare to move forward, it was unfuckingbelievable, Chelsea had become Arsenal. I was watching the match at a cafe, I couldn't help myself screaming occasionally, like stay where you fucking are, do not risk a single pass forward, let them come to you first then move, and if they don't let them further embarrass themselves. Just stay where you are. Let it end 1-0, they'll take it. They would be more than happy to take it, they had already collapsed psychologically. But this City team is too generous. Conte himself never dared to take a gamble, even at 88': I mean I could not believe my eyes, it was Hazard who was subbed (following Willian and Pedro), ballances remained intact, the guy kept playing with 3 at the back till Oliver's final whistle...

The level of our professionalism, the level of our work-rate was outstanding. Amazing composure, concentration, teamwork, organisation. City enjoyed total control of the match (and 71% possession, dropped a bit in the final 15 minutes, the reasons are obvious). Under extremely complicated circumstances, with tough, demanding games coming every 3-4 fucking days. Congratulations to all the boys, congratulations to the manager, the architect of this structure, style and ethos, if only I could be in the dressing room to shake everybody's hand...

Wow, they were a fucking disgrace, shocking. Not really sure how well we played but so glad we won.

It was a joke. Would be furious if I was a Chelsea fan. No effort, no desire. Players like Hazard and Pedro deserve better.

Hazard looked like he didn’t want to be on the pitch and couldn’t really give a flying you know what

Off in the summer almost certainly

Completely dominated the current champions home and away this season.

I expect well see a fair bit more of these kind of games as the season runs out.

We've got more important things to expand energy on. If the other side attacks we'll counter, if they don't bother, keep ball is great for us.

4 clean sheets in our last 5 games now too, quite nice.
But but our defence is shit and can be got at .

It’s clear that even “top” teams are terrified of getting a battering and set up for damage limitation from min 1.
The pundits are not giving us the credit we deserve for creating that mindset in opposition teams and managers.
The only team I have ever seen have this effect to this degree was Pep’s Barcelona. I actually think we are even better than them as they relied almost completely on the genius of Messi whereas we have so many players who can hurt the opposition.
I am going to stick my neck out and predict we will dominate domestic and European football for at least the next 5 yrs. Today’s game re-enforced that belief.

It’s hard to say if we played well or not because Chelsea were unbelievably defensive.

It’s one of the most boring games I have seen us play in this season. I would expect such passivity in a pre-season friendly, not a PL game.

We had to get through a 5 man defence and at the same time be careful about Hazard, Willian and pedro breaking forward. We were excellent today and tried our best to get that second goal. Jeez what do some fans want ? We've had 3 games in 7 days.

Another magnificent performance from City, and another magnificent performance from Gundogan - the people who slag him on here are complete idiots

I was reading the BBC feed on the way back.

1) We're boring apparently. Who's exciting against a parked bus?

2) Liverpool, Liverpool, Liverpool...

We're never going to hear the end of it.

Yes it was harsh considering we just comfortably beat the champions both home and away. It's ever since Pep came my standards have gone higher so I'm just expecting too much i suppose. We were brilliant and Chelsea never really troubled us, that should probably have been my first sentence after the game. It's the pressure of wanting to win everything I'm really feeling it and getting nervous for games more than any other season.

Completely relentless from city again. The quality in every position is so high and impressive, same players as last year more or less but Peps coaching must be incredible.
Zinchenko playing his way into the squad for next year for me. So impressive on the ball, just needs some defensive positioning improvement and no need to but a LB this summer.
Conte trying to get the sack as a few blues have said. Outplayed them as they didnt play at all.

Absolutely shocking from Chelsea. In fact, disgraceful. Their fans should be reimbursed their ticket money.

Yes it’s fucking bullshit. 3rd game this week. We were professional. We didn’t need to break out of second great and so we didn’t.

Sergio made some brilliant runs that never passed to him, he kept doing them fair play to him. He ran his socks off today.

Sergio seems to have become a great dribbler of the ball in recent times...he really is playing great at the moment.
