Breaking records/stats thread

Another record was broken in the Chelsea game. We made 975 passes, just think of that. Almost 1,000 passes. I have no doubt that we will be the 1st English team to break the 1,000 passes in a game.

If offered the CL, I wouldn't care about the number of goals or points. I think the team should be focusing on the CL games instead of Everton and United.

I don't remember ever seeing unsuccessful passes included in stats before. Also the poster I replied to said "made". To me, the word "made" implies successfully completed. If he'd said "attempted", things would be clearer.

And we keep getting told how amazing that side was.

Pretty sure the rags have attempted more than 1000 aimless long balls in a single game before.

No reason it shouldn't be accurate within a reasonable margin though, the only decent side we have left to play is Spurs.

Indeed it might be - but projections and predictions aren't the same thing. City could ease off once the title is won for example.

Hopefully we won't, even if it's won we should be looking to finish the season in the manner that we want to start the next.
 
So correct me if I'm wrong but with 9 games left to play, we have a chance of breaking some "massive" bragging rights records before the end of this season:

7 more wins for the most wins in a topflight season, currently held by Tottenham(31) and that was back when they had 42 games in a season.

As has been said 21 more goals for most goals in a season in the PL era, currently held by Chelsea(103).

Improve our goal difference by 9 and we will have the best goal difference in a top flight season, Chelsea(+71) same season as above.

Total points & goals scored are never really remembered at the end of the day. The Arsenal unbeaten season is always remembered as history tells us it is near impossible to achieve.

The league will likely be won next year with a much smaller points total. It's unlikely that any team (even us) will have such a long winning run. Whoever wins, their feats will not be compared to what's happened this season. It's a new day with new challenges.

I'd rather we rest players as soon as the PL is mathematically won. An injury to either Silva or KDB would seriously hurt us in the CL.
