Tracing our season back we actually won the title when we beat Stoke 2-0 to acquire 81 points. That's the maximum they can now get (And our goal difference is far superior to theirs).
If they lose their last game it goes back another game to when we beat Chelsea.

After Matt Busby left, they went through decades of under-achievement, including a relegation. They are no more immune to long-term decline than Liverpool proved to be. They were predicting a three or four nil win for themselves before tonight's game. Based on what? The performance at Brighton last week and before that, WBA? When will they learn?
The extra element to this is the fall-off in revenues as swathes of the 69million devotees abandon them in droves because they are not equipped to deal with a period of failure as they rebuild, as you rightly point out, as any normal club has to do.
They won’t want to wear the shirt, or sleep under the duvet covers of a non-winning side....sadly when they start to look around for the next glory-hunting bandwagon, there seems to be a very obvious candidate not too far away.

This is what I dread.
