Seriously. A 29 yr old just scored two worldies to win Madrid the CL but people want 22 yr olds ahead of players in their prime. I'm all for young players but a team with a forward line whose average age is 22 doesn't win the CL. There has to be a balance.
"You won't win anything with kids" Sound familiar? Lol

How will it improve our first team ?

Is he better than Sterling or Sane ?

The answer is no he is not, he can improve our rotational ability, but again I will say 75m for rotational players lol

So is there really any need for this kind of comment "nothing to be said really" sorry to disagree with you but there you go.

I agree paying £75m (if that is the figure) for a backup is madness and is why I and many others don't think the way you do.

Im sure he will be better than those for certain matches. You seem to look at things as being binary.

Yes it does. Your issue is thinking we have team of kids and City is proving that "myth" wrong. Breaking news - we don't. Aguero, KdB, Silva, Dinho, Walker, Nico, Delph were starters this season and none of them are kids. That's 7 out of 11. The rest were Ederson, Sane, Sterling and Stones. 4 out of 11. One of which (Stones) only regularly started for half the season. That's a very healthy balance. The only thing we've proved is that we can build a team around young players and not just rely on 11 27 yr olds.

It was just a joke. Lighten up mate its only football.

we can debate about if he’s better than Sane and Sterling til the cows come home, the major detail is even if he’s not, he’s fucking close! We have such a good squad it is virtually impossible to comprehensively improve it without spunking a world record fee, which in turn could cause deeper lying issues in terms of wage structures etc etc! Signing players that are of the level we’ve got makes us stronger! In seasons past we’ve had the dilemma of a key player being out and we’ve had to shuffle players about or even worse look to the likes of Rodwell or a Sinclair!! How demoralising for the opposition now to see our bench whoever that maybe!
At the highest level of football I don’t think “a best 11” exists, I think we all have an “ideal 11” but they are two different things.
This singing would be huge for us and it will piss of the rest of the league no end! It is a huge improvement to our squad, huge!!

Absolutely spot on. For any game now we can put out a very strong team and a bench to match

Imo he's a luxury player and won't add that much to the team. But he is definitely better than Gundogwan and has set pieces as his speciality. Raheem on the otherhand is a better player and offers much more potential still.
After what we've just witnessed over the last season if your opinion is right that Mahrez is a luxury player, I really don't think City would be signing him

When Leicester won the league, many were saying it was a ‘freak year,’ etc. They won it because they had Mahrez.
This lad really is the dogs doodahs, and imo one of the best players in league. Now if he can drag Leicester to those heights it really is quite frightening how he’ll perform wearing sky blue and in a team where all those around him are on the same level. After that amazing season, more often than not, other teams knew if they could stop him they stop Leicester, thereby having 2/3 mark him. And even then they struggled to contain him. If/when he comes to Gods-Own, he’ll definitely make us even better. And, like as already been mentioned, he’s at his prime. Pep will work his magic, and we will witness a player become absolutely world class.
He is the real deal. IMO!

So after reading the last several pages he's either Benarbia or Nasri.

The new God or the new Fall Guy.

Personally I think he'll be a special player...can't wait.

How have you reached that conclusion?

Imo I don't think he's better than David Silva, KDB, Sterling, Sane and probably about the same as Barnado Silva. Therefore he wont add much to the first team. He's better than Gundogwan but he clearly isn't good enough for our style of play and I expect he will be sold either this summer or next.

We broke every record we dont get much better, just fine margins and being able to change things , he gives us more options though and strength in depth we got through last season with no serious injuries to Sane or Sterling we might not next season. He doesn't need to be better just be as good and slightly different.

Mahrez can pick a pacy precision pass in a congested pass which I can see Jesus benefiting from as opposed to the current hopeful flicks that we resort to when a defence is massed in its own area. Also he can shoot ,has physicality which we lack .He'll be a huge assett- I believe its a no brainer.

Good posts. Just disappointed you didn’t improve on them by disparaging current City players or getting the arse with someone. Must try harder next time.

I think we need to stop comparing him to players he's going to be playing alongside,he doesn't have to be better than what we already have,he simply has to be better than the opposition, which the majority of,he will be.
Therefore he will add something to the squad,IMO.

I actually think he is on the same level and most definitely add something special to an already elite team. He’s been playing at a very high standard where ever he’s played but hopefully, with the likes of talent he’ll have arround him, he’ll raise the posts even higher. I, for one, am VERY excited as to what we’re going to witness next season!

Mahrez had an amazing 2017-18 - one less assist than David Silva and 12 goals from midfield.

He is the top scoring midfield player in the Premier League. And he's in his prime.

The clowns from Arsenal should have sold Sanchez in the Summer and bought Mahrez. It was a no-brainer and yet they didn't do that. And it is the mystery of English football as to why no one has snapped mahrez up. He's the outstanding talent in the league outside of the big clubs.

I very much hope we sign him. It makes me smile to think we are close. How do you possibly stop Man City next season? We will have so many options.

Well we are coming at it from two different angles then. The question I was asked was would he improve the first team. I don't think so and neither do you. Therefore he is a very expensive £70m luxury squad player.

So who would you drop for Mahrez from the automatic first team players?

Under Pep, absolutely no-one is an automatic first team player. Because we expect be in the late stages of four competitions, every year, now, as a normal thing. Even Kev was rested regularly towards the end of the season. The team is twenty strong now. It’s as simple as that. The trick is keeping them all happy. But they most of them seem to understand that principle.
