Im not saying he isnt...and i actually said i think Sane will become even better but mahrez has th experience and Sane is inconsistent like all young players....mahrez will be great competition for Sane and there is little to choose between them so no drop off in performane no matter who plays
i'm sure you said mahrez is more productive so stats is a reasonable request

No not really as we would be improving on a player with a better player. The only way I see him coming in is if we ship a player out. Also can I ask Do you think reinforcing his position is more important that having back up to Ferna?

Your argument was that £75m was too much for a player who wont improve the squad (IIRC) and reading this thread, you would appear to be in a small minority.

We will ship players out if we can but I dont think Gundog will be one of them.

Clearly we need cover for Ferna and I'm not sure what point you are trying to make as we are addressing that too are we not?

So who would you drop for Mahrez from the automatic first team players?

We don't have automatic first team players.

This. Some of our players occasionally blow hot and cold. If there’s an additional guy of comparable standard, then he can provide extra strength in several ways:

- On a rotational basis, whether as a starter or during matches
- By growing on and possibly even commanding a regular slot
- By spurring others on to greater efforts, and/or
- By being better than other stand-ins in the event of loss of form, injury or suspension.

For a club of our resources and ambitions, I see little wrong with an acquisition like this.

Haha i would name my son Pep if we sign Hazard.
Me too!

For sure I'd swap your son :-)

I think that Hazard, were we to sign him, would be a huge asset to our side. But I can't see Chelsea letting him go to us under almost any circumstance.

You seem to forget I am just as entitled to my view as you or anyone else on this forum. I do respect your view i just have a different opinion. Regardless of what you think I still think its too much money for someone that wont improve the first team . And unless hes coming in for Gundog who will offset some of the cost i think hes a luxury in a position where have several options already. He also had a poor attitude last season and for me that counts against him a little. I read these threads and some fans think we can spend whatever we want on whoever we want, not necessarily you by the way. Be it Isco, Mbappe, Hazard, Naymar or Mahrez. Maybe I'm a little old fashioned and a tad more reserved than some? In conclusion I think Pep has done a fantastic job, but we all know with the benefit of hindsight more often, he does make one or two errors in the transfer market.

He has talent no doubting it. The way he has handled not getting the move in the winter window I would have a slight concern. We got a great squad as it is with a great team bonding between them so far. I see Mahrez could go either way could be brilliant and fit in well. Or the other way were if he isnt playing regular football be a nightmare to work with and effect the squad morale. Pep might have to deal with that but I just think with the talent at the club already and Mahrez price its crazy money. I just hope we get in proper competition for Fernadhino and his future replacement this window.
Feel the midfield creative side we have so many options KDB , Sane , Sterling , The Silvas and to add Mahrez we will have so many options to go to war with.

You remake your point as to that you dont think he will improve the first team - why is that?
Q. Are you of the opinion that there is a firm first team and the rest are squad members to come on as subs?

Not personally sold on Mahrez, but honestly don't watch Leicester at all so my feeling is down to my perceived lack of excitement in Mahrez from pundits/other teams.

Pep wants Mahrez though so on that basis I think he'll likely be a great addition.

I don't think he's any better than David Silva or KDB or Sterling or Sane. All of which have had more starts than Bernado Silva and Gundog. I know what you are saying about squad rotation but i think its pretty clear think Pep has players he rates above others in the creative midfield area.

Excuse me...

I haven't given an opinion.

I asked you a question which you didn't answer.

JJ

I think I answered your question just fine and used an example.

It was me that wan't allowed an opinion, it must be terribly complicated for you to have to think, much easier to have Pep do it for you in future.

That's fine if you think that and not many would argue, but he has better qualities in some areas than Sane & Sterling and therefore imo, will improve us.

You never answered my question regarding a fixed starting 11

We don't have a fixed starting 11 but we certainly have players that Pep prefers over others.

Gonna go out on a limb here... but for 75M pounds, Mahrez sure as hell better be one of the "players that Pep prefers over others."

He reached world class performance levels under solid coaches in a solid team and has done so over the best part of 3 seasons and rarely misses a game so I am guessing that under Pep he can reach a higher level which would be pretty frightening. I am also going out on a limb by saying that his consistent game time is due to mental as was as physical strength which is the perfect profile for Pep
