Do you know if the club are looking at alternatives Tolm?

My own instincts, if they continue to keep playing silly b*ggers and continually moving the goalposts, would be to walk away and tell ‘em to “do one”.

But to be honest, I think they have us over a barrel, If we pull out now, I can’t think of anyone else in his class (of proven premiership quality), who is immediately ready, & would be capable of coming into the side and doing exactly what Pep wants, - i.e. giving us something a little different to what we already have. (especially when parked buses need to be shifted).

If we go for someone of a similar age & experience, but cheaper, I’m afraid they’re usually cheaper for a reason.

If, on the other hand, we go for someone younger with potential, like Maddison, he’s clearly not gonna be experienced enough give Pep the option of starting against teams like Burnley & Huddersfield (away), when a tactical change is desperately needed.

You pays your money & takes your choice, but, the bottom line is, I’m afraid, if we want proven quality, we’re gonna have to pay up
I think other teams are making it harder for us to buy their best players so expect it to be even harder later on, the centurion season didn't help and now they know that if we do get the best players nothing will stop our domination over the Premier League.

Mahrez retracted his transfer request but still wants to join the same club.

I can’t see why we would be happy to ‘pay him to leave’ as he clearly wants and requested it?

You’re spot on mate. Said it for years. Arse & the rags were clearly sharing the same bed when working out their dastardly plot to stop us getting Sanchez.

Every single close season we get some smartarse new poster who pops up, follows Tolmie slavishly, then expresses cynicism, usually in a bizarrely cocksure fashion. Here's a tip, mate: nobody knows or cares who you are or what you say. Some of us know who Tolmie is and care about what he says. So keep your salt in your pocket.

Who are you to tell anybody what to think and post again ?

You would get more dissenting posters in these threads but they get thread banned in an instant, funny that.

If Tolmie’s update is correct then Leicester are behaving really badly. I’d prefer it if they just said no so we could move on. Continually changing what they want is ridiculous. If we agreed a deal and they have moved the goalposts we should forget it.

In terms of how Tolmie words things it must be difficult if you get the nod that, as far as we know, everything is done.....so he then says that....only for the selling club to then change their minds and mess us about.

What’s he supposed to say? If we wait till it’s completely done then the official site will beat Tolmie to the punch and we have no gossip. All he can do is tell us there has been more news delaying the deal when he gets an update but..I suppose there isn’t always the time for him to do that so people understandably want to know why he hasn’t signed in the meantime.

Did you really think Kev and Hazard looked that happy together playing, on the same pitch, for Belgium yesterday?

Like two spoilt, sulking kids in the park, arguing about who’s ball it was

They both want to be the ones to start the attack and both want the ball in the final third. I don't know how it would work under Pep but it's clearly a tense relationship under Martinez.

Indeed and you are correct, which was also months back - we scout numerous players for the same position and both Thiago and Weigl were being extensively watched. The Isco reports even emerged at a later date in Spain and over here.

Hazard agent is well aware what Pep thinks of him. If I had wanted to cover my arse on that info, as you say - Chelsea Dagger and Hazard from Richard Marx was hardly subtle!!

Thought hazard was his own agent

If Leicester agreed to accept Mahrez's retraction of his transfer request then they have to pay him his loyalty bonus. It's irrelevant whether they want to pay it or not.

I honestly don't get the panic about another prem club getting him. If Liverpool are going to pay £100m for him then they could just as easily spend the same elsewhere in Europe, as could we. In short they will strengthen either way for that kind of money so it's pointless flapping about them strengthening.

It's ok if we walk away for that asking price because we can go elsewhere. As the transfer window draws on Leicester will get twitcher than us about it that's for sure, especially if we put bids in for other targets in the same position, they'll fold before we do unless someone else comes in.

Some need to stop pretending FFP is gone for good, what ever reasons you can come up with to ignore it, I will simply counter with: Why even risk sanctions when we know UEFA have no love for us?

I'm quite tired of those few blues always calling for us to be the mugs when it comes to transfers(it's not always the right answer sorry to break it to you... see Mangala, see Bony and so on), let Liverpool take that reputation from us and see how it slows down their recruitment when they get a name for it because we're better off financially as a club and it's been slowing us down for the last few years. £70m is generous enough for his quality, age, years left on contract... that's not peanuts by any stretch of imagination it's 60-70 MILLION he's never going to be our star player I don't get why would smash our transfer record with that in mind.

Very good post!

Just wondering if we are part of the delay with both transfers, doesn’t our tax year end the end of this month, if so maybe we want these deals to go through next tax year to help with FFP as we spent quite a bit last summer.

During my self imposed exile I'd come back during the transfer windows and just search on Tolmie's posts to see what's happening. Not everything he posts pans out but surely everybody on here should know that he's not Tixi in disguise (although I don't know who Tolmie actually is so you never know). Always entertaining, just crap taste in music :)
