We’re bombing Syria

we should just ignore the people living there, get a map, a pencil and a ruler.
Draw a load of lines and tell people that's their new country.

That's alsway worked before :-\

Seriously as long as there are vested interests politically and geographically. Plus resourses in the land that are potentially profitable to nations no one will have the will to do what is right.

The people in those countries matter not. Look at Syria and Egypt. Do you think the will of the people is high up on the minds of those in charge?

There are remarkably few elected or unelected leaders that ignore completely the people they are supposed to represent. They wouldn't remain in power for long. Assad does represent a large portion of the Syrian population. The SAA don't risk their lives every day because they're getting paid peanuts. This is an entirely hypothetical situation anyway. Would they agree to the right of return for the Jews without the Palestinians being offered the same? Almost certainly no. But if the Palestinians were offered the same and those countries refused then Israel could justifiably point the finger and say that they are to blame for the continuation of the conflict.

Heard today that with the fighting now stopped in Raqqa people are slowly returning to their homes to find the damaged or completely destroyed.
If thats not bad enough could you imagine switching on a light switch, opening a kitchen cupboard or jumping into bed and then.........
BOOM!
Thats what these people are going through now, thats even if they can find a safe path home from all the IEDs that have been placed on the roads and paths.

Whatever way I look at it, Syria is not a threat to the West or the UK. ISIS are and its about time these terrorists were the main objective to destroy for each country before another countries future, or that of its people are innocently caught up in another conflict.

Interesting report on Ch4 news last night, opposit view on most of what they have reported about the conflict, which has focused on Assads atrocities and ignored the fact the rebels were groups with the same mindset as Daesh, yet supported by US, us and france, though Turkey are most promiment, and Saudis are name dropped by those returning (He does point out syrian soldiers were with him during interviews, bit I doubt that theae people were lying about the FSA being bastards)

Assad is a ****, but I think we will see more tales of the supposed better option of tge free syrian army being just as big a set of cunts as him unfortunately and that this whole civil war has been a futile execise in death and destruction.

Thread is an interesting read from Labour MP Lloyd Russell Moyle.

You are missing the point - think of all the jobs that were saved !

You are right of course it stinks - we are part of a subversive international arms trade that maintains conflicts for one reason only - it needs them to keep selling its product.

Theresa May openly shows support to a state that is helping fund jihadists inside Syria but guess what, MSM aren't reporting it.

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/pm-call-with-president-erdogan-25-june-2018
Hardly newsworthy is it. PM calls head of fellow NATO ally:

“This evening the Prime Minister called President Erdogan of Turkey to congratulate him on his victory in the Turkish Presidential elections.

The Prime Minister reiterated the importance of the bilateral relationship between the UK and Turkey and expressed her desire to continue working in partnership with President Erdogan and his government on our shared priorities including security cooperation, trade and investment, the situation in Syria and supporting a political settlement in Cyprus.

The Prime Minister thanked President Erdogan for Turkey’s support on the Chemical Weapons Convention Special Session and the leaders looked forward to meeting at the NATO Summit next month.”

Just another piece in the jigsaw. Thats all. Im just putting all the information that i feel is warranted to give a view that western MSM dont give.

Its like the fighting in Southern Syria, Hadar, and the lack of reports from mainstream sites reporting that Israel and Al Qaeda attacking these villagers and destroying their farms causing food shortages and economic concerns for the area.

And for those people that have lost family members because of Edrogans support for jihadists im pretty sure they would find it newsworthy.

May thinks congratulating a dictator, in a rigged election, where some schools have been burnt down so votes couldnt be counted, is very concerning. I thought democracy was against these kind of elections?

I thought these were the reasons we try to bring peace to other countries?
Is it not part of the reason so many people have spoken out about rigged elections in Russia, NK and other countries.

But cos Turkey is an ally to the UK we should turn a blind eye to it all again?

Another example of how fucked up our foreign policy is.

Tbf the mans a **** and how we haven't kicked turkey out of NATO for it's behaviour in northern syria and against the Kurds is beyond belief.

If Turkey wasn't so strategically important with whom it borders we would be treating Erdogans action differently imo

You answered your own question.

You’re meandering everywhere on that post.

As I say, calling the head of state of an ally to congratulate them on their victory in an election is hardly newsworthy is it, hence no one in the U.K. media being arsed to report it.
