• It could have been the perfect night for Raheem Sterling to end his goal drought
• England's No 10 had gone 999 days without scoring going into Tuesday's game

• It was up to England's penalty heroes to make sure Sterling gets another chance

That is fucking outrageous and I say that as someone who expects the worst when it comes to the media and their treatment of Raheem. That last point is particularly awful, the implication being that Sterling played absolutely no part in England going through tonight. In fact it implies it would have been his fault of England hadn't gone through and that the penalty takers bailed him out in some way. Our shape was so much better when he was on the pitch, I'm not convinced we'd have needed those penalty heroes if he'd not been taken off tbh. Still let's hammer someone who has run their arse off for the cause and left the pitch with a few minutes left and England ahead and looking comfortable.

Young wasn't to be fair, I thought, like Sterling, that he worked hard, and contributed something, Lingard wasn't great, but I though he worked hard too, but he should be better than he was.

Rashford had 5 significant touches after he came on (one of them his penalty), not including the few second touches he had.
