He played as well as he can do in front of an almost non existent (creativity wise) midfield.
They're barely creating a chance from open play for anyone. If any of the people constantly moaning about his contribution understood anything about football then a) they would be worrying more about that than raheem not scoring non existent chances and b) they would know that whether you score or not, it is possible to play a major part in helping the team to function (as well as it can considering none of the midfield appear to be able to pass). It would help if the midfield actually created a decent chance for him, which definitely didn't happen last night despite Sterling making his usual excellent runs off the ball..

It’s not rocket science. There are more armchair rags and dippers across the globe than all the other clubs combined. They’re only ever going to give Sterling a shite mark no matter how well he plays. Stones was ranked 2nd lowest and he never put a foot wrong! As to the BBC, Media City is right on the doorstep of the Swamp and is infested with rags
They were scared to death of Sterling. A huge error taking him off as he was excellent i thought last night. If England had better players who could pick a pass he would have had the chance to score a few. Not just Lingaurds awful play but when Kane went for goal with a header from an impossible angle, guess who was unmarked at the other post for a tap in if Kane has headed it across the goal. He gets no service, the team has no creativity but he make the runs, takes players away creating space for others. True football fans can see this but as others have said, the sheep follow the medias narrative. For me the best attacking player last night, what the hell was Kane in midfield for most of the 2nd half and as for Lingaurd, his touch is awful and he has no awareness of others. Then you have the crabs Young and Henderson. Just 1 goal from open play sums up England. The International Rags, dangerous from set pieces but awful at creative football
It's impossible for any forward to prosper in front of a non-existent England midfield. Kane is scoring from pens as a result of the havoc England create at set-pieces. I don't recall any frward chances created from open play.
Sterling attracts criticism and yet nothing is said about the anonymous Alli or Henderson

3 penalties from Kane along with a header from a flick on at a corner and the shot from a rebound after Stones' header. Still 7 from set pieces though.Englands only open play goals are Lingards shot from 25 yards out and Kane's deflected goal from Trippiers shot that was going wide.
The other 7 are from set pieces - 2 Stones headers and 5 Kane penalties.

Don't be silly.Just out of curiosity, any criticism of Vardy not burying that chance that wouldn't have counted anyway due to being offside?

Beat me to it, can't have been that useless fucker Sterling though.Yes and one of those open play goals was a result of a neat interchange between scorer Lingard and..............sorry the other person has been air-brushed from history for convenience purposes.
Absolutely agree, sadly it isn't happening any time soon is it. To try and make people realise who see no wrong in Sterling, the way the commentators let Rashford off the hook (which seemingly many didn't want him to be) is the exact same as many on here who defend Sterling after being shite for England. It was Rashfords chance to live up to the Sterling/Rashford who should play debate and he failed. I don't think you will see many moaning when Sterling starts tomorrow but bluemoon will be in full swing of people making up stories of Joe Bloggs in the boozer saying Sterling shouldn't start.
Wasn't he just in the box and had a snap shot? Not like he was two yards out and completely fluffed his lines. Hang on the narrative is a spinning ball or bad pass isn't it, anyone broken down the way the ball fell to Vardy as an excuse for him to miss? No? Course not.
Didn't think Sterling was too bad last night again, that article is a disgrace that I read this morning. No way on earth him not scoring for England for a while is bigger news than us qualifying, especially on penalties. Weird defence of his again on here though, I am reading the midfield created nothing - when they do create and he fluffs his lines its somebody elses fault. So frustrating. I was defending Sterling last night in the pub of idiots that moaned every time he lost the ball (which was quite a bit) yet encouraged Lingard and Alli when they done the same. Weird creatures, what I will always fail to understand in here is how he is never at fault.
Like I said he was ok last night, a few really good glimpses combined with losing the ball quite a lot. He shouldn't be dropped as Englands overall play is better with him that without, Alli needs to be dropped if anyone.
