Mateo Kovacic

Kovacic is perfect fit for a Pep system. Now of course he isn't like Dinho, BUT neither is Jorginho. Jorginho has better passing, BUT Kovacic has better workrate and is better defensively, you might argue he is more like Gundogan and I'd kinda agree but Kovacic has the X factor in him. I think we should wrap this baby in golden foil.

Can someone explain what the fuck a "baller" is please? Oh, and a "Regista".

basically people giving silly names to describe players who have certain strengths who appear to play a specific role in the dm/cm position. Just wait till they get onto carrilero, mezzala and segundo volante...pretty much the same as car manufacturers giving silly names to the multiple slightly different versions of the same model of car they sell

None of us have an inside track ! As per The times we only got in touch with Kovacic's entourage last week...as a possible replacement after they may have got a sniff that they would screwed over by Napoli. Definately not weeks !

We are all city fans , and have a wonderful setup....but too many of these transfers where we supposedly pull out at the last moment.

It has worked out in the case of mahrez , where we got a good fee....95m was stupid fees in Jan. Hope it works out now

If I had to pick between Mahrez and Jorginho I'm happy we got Mahrez. Jorginho would fit Pep's style of play etc. but I believe Mahrez can be an absolute game changer with his individual brilliance.....and there are very few of those players around....Hazard would be another.

A baller is an American slang word for a sportsman who excels and their profession. For example Michael Jordan, Messi, Roger Federer ect

Regista is normally a defensive midfielder in a 3(like Dinho is) however thier main job is not to defend but to conduct play with their passing and control the tempo of the game rather than tackle and help the defence. Think of Xabi Alonso and in his later years Andrea Pirlo.

Personally, no. The differences between what Stones does and what we need from our defensive midfielder is night and day IMO. The positions in which you get the ball, the pressure on you, the level of passing needed and the ability to get forwards - Stones just doesn't have it, nor do any of our CB's.

Maybe at a lower level or in a more basic manager's system, but not here.

I don't think Pep's ever made that move before either. He's moved midfielders backwards, and made fullbacks go into central positions, but never moved a CB further up the pitch.
Check out a YouTube of Lobotka. Especially those of the VS. variety. I'm giddy over this guy and haven't seen a full game yet.

There's something about his style that screams Pep's DM!!!

I didn't say it's of American origin.
Well, the implication that nationality has something inherent to understanding of football is funny, too. I mean does that mean Italians have vastly superior knowledge of football to the English considering they've won the World Cup four times as often as you?

I'd say the Italians are far more knowledgeable about football tactics than any other country on earth tbh never mind England.

Your implication that I must be English is funny too.

I wouldn't argue against it.

Fair point! Nothing wrong with being English in truth, just as there's nothing wrong with being born into any nationality. You get people of all sorts coming from everywhere.

Also better in the dark arts of backhanders, forged documents, match fixing and corruption.

Poor planning....last moment???...City might have been working on the alternative for weeks. Do you have an inside track on what's going on at the club.

Good point. I’ve never not known is not to have another option. We’ll be okay
