Jorghino has the game to operate at the base of a midfield, recycling the ball, building and instigating attacks.
What he does not have is the mobility, pace and aggression of Fern to "routinely make tackles and interceptions in the Prem.
Racking up tackling and interception stats in Italy, doesn't strike me as a sound barometer of his defensive ability
I have not suggested that we need a Nigel De Jong, destroyer type defensive midfielder. You have mentioned this.
What I am saying is that what I think we need is a similar player to Fern, whom provides more of a balance in ability attacking and defensive wise.
It is on this basis I would argue that Kovacic is closer to Fern in style than Jorghinio is.
I would like to be proven wrong and who knows City may still be in the race for Jorghinio, but from what I have seen from the player on pace alone he would not have the capacity to "cut out attacks and help sweep up in front of the centre backs", in the helter skelter speed of the prem.
