The quotes I read said

It didn’t mention anything about Chelsea paying more. What I’m saying is if the above is not true the player could easily tell us so why would De Laurentis feel this would make us offer a higher fee. If the player prefers London then any increase in our offer doesn’t change that surely. Its irrelevant. If he doesn’t prefer London he just tells us and we sit tight.
However if the quote above is not quite correct he said Chelsea offered a higher fee then it makes sense.
