Who now then?...

Moussa dembele? Supposedly Spurs willing to listen to offers as he enters last year of contract. Always thought he looks comfortable and accomplished on the ball. Would be a stop gap signing and means having to deal with Daniel Levy again ....

Don't see that we have the 3 months it takes to deal with Spuds. Would fit their idea of good business though - sell with no time to invest the income

City were linked with Bentancur by fairly reliable Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla 2-3 weeks ago, City didn't deny it then.

Pep was saying that the player needs to be someone that's going to be with the club for years to come, rather than a stop gap to boost numbers. Dembele falls into the latter category, as do players like N'Zonzi.

I think if we do end up signing someone that will be in the 21-26 age bracket.

We don’t need no more big name stars we have enough already. If Douglas is granted his permit we don’t need anybody else to come in that’s for sure our squad is ridiculously good we’ve got players who can play in all different kinds of positions it’s mad. I might even surprise a few on right now by saying we could and we will break even more records this season.

Agreed Reece. Having said that, I’m as fascinated as everyone else to see if something else is going to happen before the end of Thursday ;-)

Can see it being Ramsey / Lemina type signing. Not worth it imo.
Just go balls deep for Verratti, or De Jong. It'll be worth it.

Bentancur would be a great signing, although it would line Juventus' pockets who might want to take Pogba off United's hands, which we don't want...

Do not forget Brozovic, a very underrated player at a club we could do business with and while we were smashing records last season he broke one at the world cup

I still don’t see it with Ndombele. Count the passes with his left foot in that video. Hell, count the touches with it. He shows some great speed and skill at times but I can’t imagine him holding up under a serious press if he needs to shift the ball to his strong foot so often. Also don’t see the point of signing Gomes to them bring in a young DM. Gomes almost assuredly isn’t ready but a young DM who blocks him puts him right back in the situation he faced at PSG but in an even harder league

2 players for every position - Fernandinho will be put out to pasture by the time Gomes is ready

Bit of a headless chicken at times too. Plenty of running and energy but that’s only half of what we’re looking for.
