Spurs’ new stadium

Blame key safety systems when in reality the stadium is nowhere near ready. Didn't even see any grass growing on the recent drone update and not all the seats are in and that's just what can be seen Outside it is still a construction site not ready for any public yet

The project time scale was too ambitious, as another poster implied if they had asked for permission to play at Wembley for 1.5 seasons then the answer would probably have been no you will have to make it two seasons, so let it appear to be a delay and seek permission for a further batch of games. The PL should now say all season at Wembley to make it fair for all clubs.

I would stand very firm on this one if I was City. We would get the chance to play 4 homes on the bounce in late October/Early November but the counter to that would be that 4 of our last 5 games would be away from home and there would be a whole month between our penultimate and final home fixture of the season

At a time when we are hopefully playing very important European games too, the more home games the better. Also the reverse fixture date is Easter weekend so train tickets, hotels etc will all be more expensive.

And likely to be hit by Engineering works as it's not Semi Final weekend or Marathon weekend

Spurs had an option to stay at Wembley but didn't take it up. Not sure, but don't think the PL have the authority to dictate to Wembley who should play there. Irrespective of who's fault it is, Spurs should be sanctioned and no other club suffer a detriment with fixture changes etc.

You can test things like turnstile operation, fire alarms, sprinklers, internal communications systems, public address, evacuation procedures etc individually but in a real emergency all those aspects need to work in conjunction with each other and for whatever reason I'd guess that didn't happen correctly in their system test.

The company responsible for nearly all those services is based on Grimshaw Lane, a few hundred yards from ours. I can see the midnight oil being burnt there....

I am pretty sure football can't be played there. Also very restricted on how many rugby events are played each year.
Down to very snobby residents.
To be fair I've lived near Twickenham once and the congestion including one of the main routes into London gridlocks thousands of homes for hours before and hours after a game, makes trying to get out of the Etihad like a walk in the park.

Agree with this. A bit embarrassing for Spurs, but I think it's been on the cards for a while.

The evac test presumably needs 10000-15000 people to show up, and to do it for all stands is a long job.

Brings back memories of our first public testing in the Etihad. It was the first day I sat in my new seat in the East Stand. We sat around for 30 minutes or so and then on the signal we had to stand up and leave promptly in an orderly fashion.

I can't remember if all the stands were involved or how many people turned up. Anyone remember any more details about this?

I dealt with the contractors their last year, they have about 3 main companys doing the build, none of them like to talk to one another! Takes them weeks/months to make even small decisions and overall its a shambles.

With the ground needing Goal Line Technology installed, rules out Twickenham and Stadium MK (MK Dons) which two have been doing twitter rounds as alternative to Spurs own stadium. Wembley is out as they have an NFL game there ... so what's the realistic option left in London? Emirates, Stamford Bridge or West Ham's London Stadium?? But don't they have their own games that weekend ... and not sure if either of those clubs would entertain Spurs ...

Looks like it's going to be a swap of home with away fixture and this being played at Etihad ... clubs have done the home/away game swap before so there's precedence ... only issue is they won't announce it just yet, and would only come out with this a few weeks before the actual game so late Sept or even Oct ... but that's what will happen most likely!

Purely from a footballing season point of view, won't be such a bad thing to be playing a big game at home after the first CL game mid-week rather than being away for that ... but yes that does leave the away game just four games to the end at the end of the season and not many home games in April/May ...

Wouldn't limit the options to London, Millennium Stadium, Villa Park etc...(assuming they're available and those clubs would allow it) should be options. It's their error, we shouldn't have to accommodate for that.

Maybe they should be forced to play their home games at the away team's ground and still play the away game at the away team's ground, it's their fault.

The only issue with that is it wouldn't be fair on the teams they're playing later in the season but I don't care about them. The above solution would suit us so I'm all for it.

Or fine them or dock points, it's their fuck up.

They could move our game to the Friday night at Wembley, assume it would give them enough time to change the pitch to NFL.

Can’t do Friday as Tue/Wed before that both them and us would be in Champions League first game ...
