Knighthood for Kiddo?

He should get some award for his 50+ years service to football.

We should all get rewards for watching some of the games over the years.... Service to Football, simply turning up in the Pearce years..

His too far north for those southern sycophants to recognise him. Does he have freedom of Manchester yet?

OBE / CBE easily. Chris Coleman got one for pretending his washing machine had exploded in Spain.

A local lad who's very unassuming and who's been very successful in his chosen profession: football. Does that warrant a knighthood? By today's criteria he's probably a shoe-in, but being benighted is a sham and the whole honours system is utterly corrupt. Looking at it from a completely dispassionate viewpoint, a bloke has been very well paid all his life to do what he's most skilled in and to then pass on those skills to others. Isn't that what most people do in their jobs? He's a good bloke by all accounts. Let that be enough.

Why? He's done his job, very well, and for nice wages.

The honours system is a joke.
It's a stain on our country like the monarchy and the (unelected) House of Lords.

Anyone who accepts anything like this is automatically a complete twat.

Let people's achievements represent their standing in society.
Winning an Olympic gold medal or inventing something that benefits society is a big deal.
Genuflecting to that bitch of a Queen and accepting a medal and a title is pure bollocks.
Bloody best post on here

A lot of people want Beckham to be knighted, Saville got knighted. Kiddo has had a fantastic playing career and been a great coach under some fantastic managers. So ok he doesn't deserve it. Let's give it to a peado media ****. Or a motorway hardshoulder crapper.

The whole honours system is a nonsense. Utterly ridiculous. Brian Kidd, like millions of others, has been good at his job. A "well done" card would be sufficient. I think he'd agree.

The benefits of the honours system in a nutshell. If someone has the tag CBE or OBE, it's almost a warning to be suspicious of them. Similar standing to a 1970s Catholic priest.

Shoo-in.
