Knighthood for Kiddo?

I suggested renaming the Mancunian way into Brian Kidd way some time ago,a bit like that road between Derby and Nottingham that they did for Brian Clough.Mancunian way sort of links the 2 clubs across town.

The honours system is a joke.
It's a stain on our country like the monarchy and the (unelected) House of Lords.

Anyone who accepts anything like this is automatically a complete twat.

Let people's achievements represent their standing in society.
Winning an Olympic gold medal or inventing something that benefits society is a big deal.
Genuflecting to that bitch of a Queen and accepting a medal and a title is pure bollocks.

I love Kidd but never get why people in football get this kind of recognition. Service to football? it is a career, a well paid career that he will love. I'm not one of them who think teachers, military etc should have the same wage as people in sport however they deserve more recognition than footballers/coaches.

A true loyal servant to Manchester football.I thought he might of git the bullet under manchini or PEP . But thankfully he didn't.
When i was explaining to my grandson about him he asked me he is a red or blue.I genuinely don't know.

Unfortunately he’s a rednose, brought up in a staunch united family.

Why should anyone get a knighthood ? If you good at your job you get paid well that is enough for most people .the honours system is an outdated method of rewarding the rich and famous yet again

The fact is they do,and,as such,Kiddo is as deserving as anyone.

Thanks for the info.
I hate not being able to answer my grandsons questions.
Which can be difficult at times.

I was told by someone who knew him as a lad that Kiddo was a Blue and the rest of the family rags. At the time he was signed by the rags we had George Poyser in charge so he was probably filling his pipe rather than watching up and coming young prospects.

This was the kind of reply I was expecting, no logic behind it other than "well it happens". It shouldn't happen either way and I also don't know many coaches who get the title either? Might be wrong but love the guy and all he has done for Manchester in general.

If you look at the full list of awards every year the vast majority are to people we have never heard of.
The press just latch on the celebs and sports stars cos we have heard of them.
Here’s the full New Year’s Honours List 2018.

99% have never been heard of.

That is the point though, its not just for football, or even his contribution at City, its for the community in Manchester, for a very long time, and still is doing well past his retirement date. I'm not surprised you would be contrary to many though.

Looks about 20 years younger than he is. But yes, he deserves recognition. City players and coaches don't get recognised though.
