MCFC U-18's

In about three years time we should have one helluva good first team squad there are a lot of good players in this group who are showing at this moment a very good chance of making the grade. The first 11 against West Ham was a very strong team.
We have one helluva good first team now.... and they're quite young.

Yes we do ;) but when we can have a larger group of players coming up through our academy adding to it we will have a bigger squad and we won’t have to compete with other clubs who will pay the highest price for the elusive elite players if we can produce that here.

I think if we get two or three every three or four years we will be doing exceptionally well.
Currently we have Foden, Diaz and let's say Muric.
As I said we'll be doing well to get three palyers from the current U18's. I sincerely hope we do, but it'll be extremely difficult to take the place of our current
crop in their early twenties.

New signings Ben Knight and Jaden Braaf are obviously 2 to look out for.

From what I've seen Fiorini and Ogunby are class players, Ogunby a natural goalscorer, Fiorini more of a silky attacking midfielder.

Tommy Doyle is the main man for me though. Class touch and passing, all round midfielder with a great long range strike.

Also be keen to look out for D'Margio Wright-Phillips, son of Sweep.

Doyle is probably the stand out and hopefully back from injury soon. Ogunby is good but not at all convinced he will make it at the top level. Not seen enough of Fiorini but clearly there is real talent there. Good first touch , good awareness , scores goals but I do wonder if he disappears a little when he needs to show he is the dominant midfield player in the game. Bit like Manu Garcia in that respect.

As I said a bit early to judge and it's not the best time when we are thrashing teams 6 nil. Wolves were woeful!

One I do like is Rowan McDonald. Captain's the side from holding midfield and then slipped into the center half role late on. Composed and strong.

I have heard good things about Jason Mcatee who played for the 16's I think and then came over to the 18's for a brief late appearance. Reminded me of Foden!

Our front trio of Garre-Touaizi-Matondo has 11 goals and 4 assists in 3 games so far. They`re just 18, 17 and 17 as well. Looks very promising

but this game was after 2 high scoring wins and against the scousers who clearly didn't want to go the same way! We are fielding a very young EDS side. Somebody said the average age was less than 18 and when you saw them line up against Liverpool it did look like kids against blokes.
Touazi hardly had a kick but he did have one chance which he hit over on the half volley.

Matondo is scarily quick but does tend to be predictable and run in straight lines. He does score some goals and maybe there is something there. Right place right time for the equaliser v LPool. Garre seems to be at it this season but got very frustrated v LPool as they were very physical and he got little joy or help from the ref.

None of them were very good against the dippers, but don't forget that several of the opponents were 3 or 4 years older. Physically it was men vs kids. Apart from Grimmy, we only played 17 and 18 year olds. Liverpool played many 19-21 year olds

The EDS are playing tonight in the Checkatrade Trophy vs Shrewsbury. I wonder if Diaz will play, as he’s not going to be playing much this season unless he goes out on loan.

Won 3-2 against Derby today. Goals from F.Nmecha, Lorenzo Gonzalez and Benjamin Garre. Once again loads of players was not in the squad. Latibeaudiere, Humphreys, Garcia, Wilson, Taylor Richards, Matondo, Touaizi and Bolton were all absent. I know Garcia is injured, but what about the other ones? Anyone know?

Just loads of injuries so the teams we are putting out at 18's and EDS are seriously young. The 18's today looked more 16's with a couple of 18's included. Everton on the other hand looked like thay had real blokes in their team .
