Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

If he were to leave, it would mean that City can win the Net Spend Trophy in the summer. And as we all know, that moral halo is more important than anything.

Just a hypothesis on my part, but can't imagine the board aren't thinking already the amount it is also going to take to replace Sergio for the next five years.

It's going to take £150m-£200m large.

Considering Sterling's present value and other players we currently have on our roster, wiggle room might perhaps have to come from somewhere.

We are practically neutral on spend this summer and that Sergio successor, along with the defensive midfield replacement is the only real things this young squad needs.

So my question is, is Sterling a sacrifice worth making if it secures a Kane, Mbappe or Neymar?

No because he is young and getting better not to mention home grown,i'm sure we have enough money in our war chest to replace sergio, gabby might yet be that man,he has 2 seasons to prove he can lead the team and score the goals on a consistant basis

Even if Jesus makes that jump, we would still need to make an additional striker signing.

I also seriously doubt we would be able to lay out £150m plus on one player without bringing in money from somewhere.

I am a huge Jesus fan but IMO he is a secondary striker, a foil, just as he is for Brazil.

He certainly has the talent to be whatever he wants to be.

I agree that now he plays like a secondary striker ,i wonder if he could ever lead the line, time will tell

We have a great young team coming through and i just can't see us breaking that young attacking trio up

How much would he command in a fee if he were to leave?
Who could afford such a fee, plus his wage?
Perhaps the lure of London plays on his mind but I'm not sure any of those clubs could stump up that cash.
Paris, Madrid? That's about it really. Maybe if Mbappe or the diving Brazilian leave psg

Do you honestly believe he would get in Real Madrid or PSG's starting eleven? Everything is perfect for him at City, the players around him, the system and a manager who believes in him.

It's not alk about that with players, it's partially about them maximising their income and if he gets a better financial deal offered, there's the risk he would leave.
These young men have a plethora of advisors he'll bent on squeezing the maximum financial reward from their 'client' and will advise him in that direction.
Dies that sound cynical? Perhaps, but that's just how I see it.

Can’t see us letting him go on the simple fact he’s Homegrown

The cost to bring in another wide forward of his quality and potentially another HG player elsewhere would be phenomenal

Simply put he’s worth more to us than he would be Madrid etc

Agree on the Sergio replacement needed.next summer, but I think we’ll move for a young player rather than an established one

Sterling for kane, mbappe or neymar? Personally I like Sterling a lot but much like the rest of the squad his sale would not bother me in the slightest if it meant City continue to win. That said although all good players, some of them great I'm not sure any of those three would be able to provide city with what sterling currently offers City. Despite his detractors as well as his pace for his age he's a very very clever and versatile player, capable of occupying most of the front 7 positions in 352. You can pop him left or right, centre, off the front striker as a false nine or even as the main striker and we did not have to pay 200 mill for those qualities. The three mentioned are all great players but not sure kane, mbappe or neymar would provide pep with the same level of versatility and options Sterling can give you within games. Or put it this way I suspect it would be one hell of a daft gamble at 150- 200 Mill us, despite what you would get for sterling, blowing most of your transfer window budget on one of the above mentioned players to find out.

Putting his marketing value aside I think Neymar is worth serving. Mbappe is the man but I’d also take Kane. Massive to get either of those.

I personally don't think he'll leave. He knows City is a big club with even bigger ambitions. Even if he was to leave we'd still have Bernardo Silva.

Would rather give Sterling and Sane big new contracts and put faith in Gabriel to be Sergio's successor. No need to replace Sergio for another couple of years realistically.
