Same could have been said about Sterling two years ago and look at him now, lad needs a goal and it's not for the want of trying.
Head up lad it will come.

Did everything but get his goal. Played well, brought others into play, created space especially for Bernardo’s goal.

I admire the optimism on here but another disappointing night for him. Peps had him Almost 2 years now and I see nothing to suggest his game is improving. At some stage his admirers are going to have to admit he's not the player they had hoped for. Unfortunate but that's the way it goes.

I feel like he is lacking the pace he needs to thrive as a lone striker and is more suited to playing alongside a target man.

Fulham will be his next chance. If he doesn't score there it'll be a long slog of a season for him.

He's not a natural finisher and that's his biggest problem.

Again, only 21. Deserves a few more years.

Starting to get this feeling,,, his touch for his first shot on target that was saved. Was poor and starting to become quite typical.

His game is off and has been since his foot injury. Quite a significant period.

Vs liverpool he was runnning and dribbling and showing some skill.
I hoped this would spark something

Sure he tracks and makes run but Pep will at some point lose his patience. We will not win the champions league with his current form.

I’m usually the first to defend a city player but Jesus is honestly the problem no one wants to admit to. Spent the whole 90 minutes offside or trying to shoot planes down with the football.

The problem is that this is not the first time. Far from it. He hasn’t been a good striker since his first 3 or 4 games for us. It’s been 18 months now, at what point do we admit to ourselves that he might be a flop?

"flop" is a bit strong , we picked him up for a bargain £25m , he is a frustrating player , silly offsides and his finishing is not the best at the moment , he is a confidence player a couple of goals and we will see a different player , but i do beleive he will eventually be playing in La Liga for either Barca or Real , Spainsh football would suit the lad , i dont think he will reach his full potential in a blue shirt or in the Premier league , despite being the 1st choice Brazilian centre forward.

I would have thought that after 3 years slagging off Sterling constantly, you'd have learnt your lesson.

It’s a shame Ric hasn’t made an “utter bollocks” button for these kind of ridiculous posts.

He played well, never stopped running, gave their defenders a hard time and made plenty of space for our midfield to take advantage of.While he is struggling to get on the sheet, his overall play is superb and we benefit from his team ethic.

He's 21 btw.....

Did okay last night...the run made to take the defender away for bernado’s goal was great. However he is in desperate need of a run of good fortune in the way of goals. But this is the problem, we are not a team made to just supply the frontman to bang the goals in, and this can make the someone like Jesus stand out more when it isn’t working for him.

He needs to keep the belief that he has the quality to beat any player. I think it might be a good opportunity to play him out wide and see if it allows him to show his ability. He switched at one point last night to wide right i think for a brief spell

I like your line of thinking. I’m a major Jesus defender and I’ve argued multiple times that strikers are wildly overrated in the traditional sense. I think you just do nothing and let it play out. The modern striker is still being molded. Thinking of Bobby over at the dippers. He’s got like 2 goals and linked with Barca. We don’t seem to miss much when Kun is out. Jesus doesn’t seem to play great and the results still come. Total football and all that.

We just keep winning and Kun / Jesus keep doing their thing and we let this play out is what I suggest. Sure, he needs to improve but I think he’s already doing what needs to be done.

I don't think Jesus is Improving tbh. Caught offside too often, not prolific, too slow and basically a tap in merchant. He doesn't have the right mentally as he is always pulling silly faces of injustice to the ref.

Sorry to upset all you "ah but he's only 21" apologists, he's not living up to the hype IMO. I hope he proves me wrong but at the moment he's not doing enough as a striker.

You can be the worst striker ever but there is one thing a striker can do is stop being offside continuously.

21 is too young to make claims he will never be good enough. He needs to stop being offside and take his chances more clinically of course but his movement and link up play helped us win 3-0 away at a side no English club has beaten away from home.

Aguero doesn't tend to link as well or looj to get in behind or stretch the defence as much but he will go and score 2 goals. As long as the team wins it doesn't matter who is scoring. The goals will come for Gabby, he is just going through a dip. Look at Sterling's improvement over the past year or so...

To be fair Aguero's link up play has been superb for a good while now. It's something he's improved hugely.
