I've always found it odd that it's not considered serious foul play. In Rugby Union it's an automatic yellow card to play the man when he's in the air ffs.
Union have more consistent and better referees and they've seen the injuries multiple times, it is foul play already in football and a red card offence in that situation yesterday (deliberate denial of a GSO through foul play) but the referees don't apply the law and probably won't until someone gets killed or paralysed. In a high profile game.

Very often ex players who are on TV as pundits, encourage players to challenge and push/nudge when strikers are in the air to put them off.

It can certainly be dangerous but it can be difficult to prove in real time, maybe the introduction of VAR may lead to more penalties being given and the officials becoming more strict on this offence?

Probably not mate, I've seen absolutely blatant ones go unpunished in real time, notably Dinho and Firmino on Thursday. It'll take a bad injury or death and the realisation in the sport that dumping somebody onto their head or neck on a hard surface from 10 feet in the air is extremely dangerous.

being serious.. although it could potentially be dangerous.. ive played football over 24 years in much difficult and rougher conditions and nothing remotely bad has come from this

it just isnt that serious and it would ruin the game even more if they become more stricter with it.

I've broken my collarbone in two places from one of those challenges and if the angle had been slightly different it could have been a lot worse. That's from a deliberate foul with no attempt whatsoever to win the ball. It has no place in the game.

might want to work on the way you land then bud.

Knowing how to break your fall is fuck all use when you get cleaned out of the air on your blindside with no time to react. Hence the blanket ban in Rugby, where everyone is solid and knows their breakfalls and they've still ended up with brain injuries and broken necks from it.

This is still on his mind, for me:
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www....p-woes-with-brazil/1jhlyvoxetl1c1t8o43zl847cj

The thing is, he’s not going to get it out of his system until he plays a good ten games in a row and gets his scoring rhythm back, yet he’s not going to get that chance with Kun fit.

He’s too tense, he’s got too much worry in his mind.

Still young though and some of the best strikers in the world over the last 10-15 years were not already at a top club or well known at all until they started improving front he ages of 22-24.

Hopefully give him confidence that. Wasn’t shocked to see him 1v1 with keeper and fire it right at him. Thankfully foden tucked it away . Onwards and upwards gabby
