Crap towns

Not a town but Wembley. It’s a shithole of a place, walked a mile after the game from where I parked the car last night. It’s a bit of a scary place if you take the wrong turn, and turn off the main roads

Louth in North Lincolnshire. Probably a nice county town once but now one which time (and austerity) have sadly left behind. And it’s only a short drive to Mablethorpe and then on to Skegness. You don’t get a much more depressing trio than that !

Wonderful holiday destinations as a child...

Not a town but Wembley. It’s a shity place in London that we're always bloody going to. The main scary bits last night were the thought of our players injuring themselves on the less than perfect surface, and one or two of our players determined to set up chances for Spurs. And it was bloody nippy walking back to the car.

Northampton - a truly depressing place. Inhabitants mainly consist of dole scroungers walking around with rag and dipper shirts on whilst pushing a pram with 5 kids

Yes, used to go to Skeggy occasionally for day trips - ok, piss ups - when I lived in Leicester from ‘68 - 81. Made a trip ‘down memory lane’ there with my grandson last Easter - we were staying outside Louth - but perhaps, on reflection, should have left it at memories. Still, we enjoyed the crazy golf.

Sad to hear that. I was in Louth with a couple of mates for a few weeks in the summer of 97. Thought it was lovely round there. The locals were great with us too. Even considered trying to get a job at a quarry and staying, But then, I'm from Heywood so everywhere is pretty nice and beats working at Argos or Index.

The locals we met were great and very friendly but a few pubs were closed, most had seen better days and many shops, eating places and other properties were rather drab and dismal. Not their fault, probably. The area seems to have taken a big economic hit in recent years.

Steady lad. Not shit, just really mediocre. Try Kettering if you want depressing. As for shirts, wearing the mighty Northampton Saints shirt is pretty much obligatory, me ducks.

Just been to Killingbeck in East Leeds, there's a big Asda there that I use sometimes. Very depressing place and local population, like something out of the hills have eyes, very slow pace of life.
