TV Series

Finally got the last episode in of 'House of Cards'.

Maybe, I was being romantic to myself about the previous series, but this drop off in quality was astounding.

It seemed rushed, cryptic and unintentionally comedic in delivery.

What is clear is that the writers did not know how to separate the characters of 'Frank' and 'Claire Underwood'.

And, maybe, that was the point?

It just seemed too unbelievable that Wright decided to play 'Claire' as 'what if Lady Macbeth came to Washington' and expecting a smooth outcome.

I loved 'House of Cards' and I don't mind a leading lady strong enough to pull off such weight of the show, but Robin Wright could not do that.

I get that throughout the show we're shown the 'Claire' has her own power, but the whole thing is bogged down with the ghostly presence of Kevin Spacey/ 'Frank Underwood'(which is kind of the point) and it makes its way into the speeches 'Claire' would never make in the previous series.

It's too much to go into, but I just found the whole thing a shocking convoluted amount of nonsense.

Finished Dare Devil really good but seemed he got a bit softer in this series where as in the other series he kicked butt.

Giamatti is the only one who hams it up just enough to make the show great!!

The others are out of their depth when it comes to emotion nuance.
It's one of those shows you watch, but only because you want it to end, and would be happy with a complete bloodbath to ensure no return.

Up to episode 6 of Narcos Mexico, not bad at all. It can't have the fresh feel the first season did or indeed have the same punch simply due to Pablo being the biggest of the big, anything else is not as grand.

With that in mind it is a good show, it does feel as though some parts could be given a few extra minutes back story or elaboration. Some parts you have to assume where as others detail every bit of the scene. In that way it is not consistent, some won't like that.

The framework is a bit more balanced in the wider view, the detail is not focused on the "main" character but rather spread around. This is where is feel the extra detail needs to be in general. It is like a fine picture that is just not complete in that respect, you can see the beauty in it but that detail yet to be added you know will make it pop and complete the piece.

This is not to detract from the show, it just feels a bit more bullet pointy than the original season 1.

I was bored of it by episode 2. Doesn’t have the same hook as Narcos original

I'm also on ep6, enjoyed it but you're right about the gaps and having to fill in the blanks a little, couple of characters don't fit too well. Still great to watch after a long wait.

I just googled that because it sounded like it might be something interesting based on the search for the north/west passage.
But no, fucking vampires.

Did someone say Vampires ?

Watching Legion. A kind of slow/strange first 15 min - wasn't sure I'd like it. But wow! Glad I stuck with it. One of my favorite series.
