Why are we obsessing over playing kids? Are we trying to save the club some money or is it a class of 92 ego thing. I've never actually got why people attach so much importance to it.

Reason for him not in the team today?
One of the best young players in Europe atm and he 100% made the right decision in leaving us.
He is more then good enough to play for us aswell, but we created a culture of bascially never really giving young players a chance. Foden is getting a few minutes here and there now, but needs more game time to improve
Id agree re Mahrez, not Jesus..id have hated utd to have beat us to his signature...wouldnt have been too fussed with Mahrez going to utd...not that i dont rate the lad,he is obviously a very very good player... but so is Diaz. This ridiculously talented young home grown player is in all honesty going to have to move on to further his career..just like Sancho. The addition of Jesus & Mahrez cost us Sancho & Diaz
From my own point of view the progression of home grown players to the City first team has always been an additional point of satisfaction in supporting my favourite team, and this goes back way before the class of 92 scenario you mention-it has nothing to do with that. Why are we obsessing over playing kids? Please tell me who you would drop from our team (you can include the bench) to accommodate Sancho?

I should also say that it isnt really criticism of the manager..how could you criticise a man who has given us so much? Its an instinctive opinion ,and everybody is entitled to one, without being at risk of being labelled as not being a true City fan.
I can still remember the excitement of an 18 yr old Nicky Reid being picked to face Borrusia Munchengladbach in the Uefa cup ..a young home grown player against a decent european team, what a way to make your debut! I was 14 yrs old when 16 yr old defender Tommy Caton walked out for his debut against C rystal Palace ,and helped keep a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw.(saw highlights on MOTD)..as a young lad ,even as a non-mancunian,i felt the excitement of a player ,not much older than me ,making his first team debut...for after all,any Football daft kid supporting City...as i was, wanted to play for the club..it just made the dream a touch more realistic..thats all...theres nothing wrong with that, its just instinctive .When i watched City in my first ever match,at Forest,as stupid as it sounds now, i fhought Wow!! as Tommy Caton walked out..along with Big Joe Corrigan,Paul Power,Willie Donachie etc...its a memory which stays with me until this day.
When later i began watching City home and away, sneaking into Chelsea in 1988,despite the away fans ban, i saw Paul Moulden turn and curl a brilliant left footed shot ,from 20 yards, into the top corner in front of a sparsely populated shed end,it was another Wow ! moment..Moulden had finally arrived! Of course, all the examples ive listed never really met their true potential....a crushing dose of reality...
Under Mel Machin of course, there was a real buzz on the Kippax watching Lake,White ,Redmond and Brightwell ,all homegrown and youth cup winners attempt to carve out careers with City..Lake in particular looked absolute class..i just didnt want to miss a single game in those days, didnt want to miss out
On any of Lakes extraordinary range of exciting skills.....Swindon away ,under Machin,Lake defending a Swindon corner, ball drops to him in the pen area..big Dave Bamber immediately closes him down..Lake instinctively nutmegs Bamber, runs around him,and sets off on a glorious 70 yard run down the right wing, squares to White who blazed over....a blistering counter attacking move engineered and ..wasted by two young home-grown players ....of course when Howard Kendall came in ,and dismantled the talented kids, bringing in trusted, hardened professionals a few years later, another dose of reality set in...
Many folk on this site have commented about the dearth of younger fans taking an interest in actually attending City games. This is a real worry, and may be due to a number of factors(cost, the obsession with social media) but one of them may also be the lack of young home grown figure heads to truly capture their imagination.
The current City side is playing the best Football ive ever seen at club level, but for me,it does not detract from the excitement of seeing past homegrown players make their way into our first team,...and never will.
Forgetting the media hype wanking over Sancho and his connections with City, he obviously has ability, or he wouldn't be getting games in Germany or ( hopefully ) the England team.
However when I watched him when he was playing at City, he overdid everything, and generally ran into many blind alleys , that I thought there were better players in the team than him.
Now he must be improved, but how good is he ? I am ignoring the £100million price tag mentioned in the uber shite media as pure cockroach food byw.
Dortmund didn't offer him more money than City...
Skysports and the media love nothing more than something to bash manchester city ?? its now become the super talent that manchester city let go
why on earth do manchester city get so much bad press with youth ?? ok the money is a easy target and yet manchester city are the best team in england, and for last 8 years 3 premier league titles 3 league cups one fa cup and 7 seasons in champions league football ??? its not like united have ever let a so called superstar leave and for free only to sign him back for £90million plus £20million in fee's, chelsea have had countless youth players leave and now top of there game but never get the bad press man city get
but the thing that really get's my goat up is the reporting of false information and a tool to darken the name of manchester city, jadon-sancho and the people behind him should hang there heads because it was you and you alone that wanted to leave and manchester city offered a very good deal for a youth player, and like the rest of the youth players nobody promised first team football and you was still a couple of seasons away from being ready
but lets not get in the way of a good story and the media love nothing more than beating up manchester city and this lad jadon-sancho is the icing on the cake, just have a look at jadon-sancho and watford ?? city offered him a better deal and was off like a shot now borussia dortmund offer a better deal and was off like a shot, my bet is manchester united will be in for him and what's the betting he will be off like a shot sounds like the agent pimping to the best offer
Curious, how do you know what City and Dortmund offered?
