I really don't get the problem with MOTD

Lineker loves us,as does Chappers on MOTD2 and everyone is aware of his allegiances, as do almost all the pundits and commentators - Steve Wilson was positively glowing about us last week v West Ham, Pearce always is, so is Bower, etc etc, whilst Guy Mowbray has always been a closet blue - pretty sure he supports York in the same way that Anty follows Alti

Furthermore we are almost always on towards the start of the programme, (we can't be first every week), whilst the Jose elbows out water throwing brigade are normally consigned to the tail end charlies spot where you would expect to find a 0-0

What's not to like?

I'm sure it's the reason many people no longer view the programme, no matter who they support. Unless they support the usual suspects of course. It's not about favouritism to me, it's about balance and MOTD doesn't have it.

It has become ever more clear that the BBC have a 'football script'! Having seen and heard it once it has become repetitive and monotonous. I record the programme if we are not on first and then whizz it on to kick off.

I can't think of many people I know who religiously watch it, I think most of them record the game or watch goals on Sunday.

It used to be a compulsive must-watch but it has become so parochial, club centric that once-glued to the screen viewers are tired of it! The staggering aspect is that the BBC need the licence fees of 11000+ viewers to fund just LIneker. That's the total licences of a small town! They're consulting at the moment about over 75s paying for a licence. They can afford licences under a £100 for everybody if they didn't fork out eye-watering amounts for what appears to be just ordinary fare!

Lineker does a lot of hosting though, not just MOTD and I think his wage covers the whole thing, not just his appearances on the one show. I mean, Jonathon Ross was once the highest paid presenter on TV, and I'd rather listen to Lineker talking non-stop without any actual football on MOTD before I listened to 5 minutes of Jonathon Ross.

BBC News24 sports report on last night Dippers game could have come straight from LTV.

"Liverpool matched PSG despite their less than professional attitude to last year's runners up."

"The French side celebrated as if they won the thing at full time..."

You'd never catch Liverpool prematurely celebrating like that....

Is that how they reported our game with them last season

April could have read; "City matched Liverpool despite having two goals wrongly disallowed and a blatant penalty not given over the two legs and Liverpool's less than professional attitude towards the best team in the country. Liverpool celebrated as if they won the thing at full time... despite it only being a fucking quarter final, Liverpool ending the season with fuck all to show for it and City winning a double and breaking all records!"

Haha, twats!

I watched Sky Sports News at 7am...

First 8 minutes was about the Liverpool game, which is fair enough I suppose, although Spurs fans might not agree, and that whole time it was about PSG diving and staying down and Klopp not being happy with that. Nothing about how they lost again and have under achieved and have embarrassed themselves.

Then on my way to work I listen to Talksport at 7.40 and Tony Cass is on the blower talking about Liverpool and most of that was about PSG play acting. Nothing about how shit Liverpool were.

If we lost it would be rammed home that we lost and were going out.

Wigmore in the i has another 'evil sportswashing City Abu Dhabi' column today. Pictures of City players in AD in 014, anti-apartheid marches and (of course) Nazis.

Jibe at City fans being more bothered about UEFA - check.
Pearce email re NYCFC location and AD politics - check.
Human Rights Watch mention - check.
Stupid headline "The lessons from history for Manchester City fans" - check.
Actual lessons from history shown - non-check.
Matthew Hedges mention - check.
Multiple quotes from 'freelance' Nick McGeehan - check.
Description on HRW website of Nick McGeehan - "Nicholas McGeehan is the Bahrain, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates researcher at Human Rights Watch"

He also want supporters of other clubs led by the FSF to boycott us. Looking at the away end every game I thought they already had.

So he did, I think I'd glazed over at the curiousness of it by then, Anyway, it's now made the website:

https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/manchester-city-abu-dhabi-uae-sports-washing/

Want to know how successful sportswashing is? Just look at the Manchester City fans who cheerlead for Abu Dhabi

Few cities have such a proud tradition of fighting injustice as Manchester - but the forces of tribalism have been manipulated

The above is the headline of the linked article, it is off the shelf agitation propaganda, agitprop.....

Propaganda:
information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a political cause or point of view.

It is not designed to reveal, educate, entertain or illuminate, it is simply propaganda, designed to promote a political point of view, that is its sole purpose, it is not journalism, it is agitprop. To engage with it gives it validity, to not engage with it is to admit the truth of it.

As in.....Man City have not denied the claims made in Der Spiegel. Therefore they are true.

Or........Man City responds to accusations in Der Spiegel. Therefore they are true.

If Man City fans attempt to debunk this propaganda, it would be conclusive evidence of how the forces of tribalism have been manipulated.

If Man City fans do nothing, we clearly accept its premise, it would be conclusive evidence of how the forces of tribalism have been manipulated.

The article is loaded, like so many others about City, it's the classic "when did you stop beating your wife" conundrum.
