Media persecution of Raheem Sterling

Sterling looked a right fucking lemon trying that stunt,it backfired badly and that's the reason he's getting shit.

It has fuck all to do with him not being white, that's pathetic and cheapens real racism.

Show me an example of where the main illustration used for a game was a pic of a member of the victorious side with his head in his hands after missing a penalty and I'll accept I'm wrong.

He did look a lemon and he deserves a bit of stick, like I said before I've no issue with the picture being used, it's how it's being used.

The stand out story is that City won on penalties.
City were expected to win though, ok it went to penalties, that's the match summary report. The story is the fucked up penalty by one of our stars trying to chip a penalty and the accompanying picture of the goalkeeper laughing and jeering at him. It would still been the story if Raheem was white. Don't see an issue but it's an opinion . Think people are starting to froth at the mouth.

It’s not being an ‘argumentative twat’, it’s having the opinion that this picture of sterling is in no way about racism towards him or anything else. You’ve fallen into the trap Darren Lewis was talking about last week. The black man Darren Lewis. If you start linking absolutely everything to racism, it will become impossible to determine what is racism. But as it goes on here, anything that is remotely not 100% behind our players and the club, it’s torn down and rammed back down the throats of those who dare speak up.

Sterling was an idiot to try that penalty and he was made to look as such. The keeper knew it. The camera snapped both of them and hey ho it ends up as the main photo. It would be the same if it was anyone else. Rant over.

OK change the angle, adverts showing women as simply housewives are to be banned. They realise that constantly showing a woman stood by a washing machine with a baby in her arms is a stereotype that is plain wrong. Every time there is a chance to portray Sterling in a bad way they do it and it is sending the same wrong message out. Sterling missed a penalty lets highlight that rather than a 20 year old keeper who has played the sum total of 3 games gets City to a semi final ?
If this was a one off I would join in your condemnation of the OP but the negativity they always associate with Sterling needs addressing.

why don't players just hit the ball with power when taking a pen, I was giving him shit when he missed, what is he trying to do, goalie went down and he could just hit the ball in the other side of the net, but no he had to be fancy and show the goalie up, but after the game I would have gone up to the goalie and laughed at him

It's hardly a story though, that's the point. It's a talking point, that's all, the picture doesn't illustrate what happened in the game, like it normally does.

The photo shows Raz as an object of ridicule. In fact, the ever so wise, clued up, sneering goalkeeper was being remarkably unsporting after having gone completely the wrong way. He was prone on the ground when Raheem's chip/Panenka just cleared the bar and he is being exceptionally rude to our lad. The newspaper points none of this out and I am driven to ask what the caption on the photo would have been had Raheem chipped the ball into the top corner and then gone over to sneer at the 'keeper as he struggled to his feet. I am not offering a prize for the correct answers.

Not seen any papers today but was there any photos of the Leicester players who missed. I like Sterling but bet the manager wants to no why he was trying to be a clever dick with the pen

Does anyone really give a shit? Bloke misses pen, keeper celebrates, city win. Surely no one really cares.

I dont think it is racist - it encourages racism, especially when the media actually ramp up their bullshit against Sterling after he's been racially attacked. They know what it causes, whether they are technically racist doesnt matter, they know the end result, which in my mind is very close to racism, or at least not giving a shit.

If it had been Aguero for example, the picture would be the same. He was stupid for doing that, and the keepers reaction let him know. It was always going to be used as a photo regardless who it was.
No he wasn't stupid. He's got enough bollocks to try to place the ball with a quality kick, alas the pitch affected it, even Jesus sled.
Stupid are the canutes calling Raheem stupid for one missed penalty, and quickly flocking to the media agenda against him.
Hope he does it again, he'll score.

Pep just laughed and said it's ok,only the raz bashers are making a meal of it
Yeah,i'm sure that would have been his reaction in the dressing room too, because,as we all know.....Pep is well known for being very lenient and chilled when one of his players tries to be a clever dick,by doing something needless and stupid, that could have cost us the game.

Giving the media ****s ammunition isn't the brightest idea either.Hopefully it's a lesson learnt for the kid.

Come on matie give him a break

Come on matie give him a break
I’m sure he’s big and tough enough for a few opinions of the fans of his club not to bother him. I’m sure he’s been given plenty by his manager and team mates, not to mention having his faux pa highlighted in public by the opposing keeper. This is just a forum, where such opinions get discussed. Nobody needs to give him a break as nobody is hammering him. And I dare say he doesn’t read the forum anyway.
