Ederson - 2018/2019 performances

Thought he had another great game today. Passing perfect as always and making some important saves.

Don’t think he ever has a bad game. His passing isn’t normal for a keeper.
He’s had a few poor performances (Liverpool away last season comes to mind) but they are all far in the past in my opinion, during his bedding in period. He has developed in to the next generation, world class keeper. He is revolutionising (along with Pep, of course) what people understand the keeping role to be (and/or what is possible).

Beyond that, though, I really do think he deserves heaps of praise for that early low, diving save yesterday. That is a save he could have easily not made and few would have faulted him, but he got there decisively.

It’s the sort of save that impacts the game, as it turns the chance in to a wake up call to his outfield teammates (“stop allowing these sorts of chances and finish ours at the other end”) and engages the crowd to get behind the team. That’s beyond just avoiding conceding, of course.

We’re extremely lucky to have him and we need to start paying the witch doctors a monthly retainer to ensure he stays fit all season, as I think the drop off from him to Muric, as talented as he is, would significantly impact our play if he was forced play for an extended amount of time.

These passes in the middle through the lines all the time to start counters. Those tactics are brilliant when you have a keeper able to do that. Everybody should play that style. Its the best football to watch when even the goalkeeper is recicling possession.

Can’t beleive I heard people moaning that he can’t save penalties yesterday. Believe an attacker has to score from a penalty it’s your best chance of a goal.

But that ping about 10 mins before end straight onto Mahrez’s foot was a thing of beauty

It was an amazing ball yeah.

By the way, only watched it live buy looked a stonewall penalty in injury time with his knee taking the strikers foot. Did anyone see a replay of it?

I'm starting to doubt Ederson. He is great with his feet, sure, just like Bravo. Ederson has around 30 shots in total this season, with 13 of them conceded. Sure, three were penalties. But it's still not good enough. What kind of save percentage is that? I hope he doesn't turn into another Bravo, because he is letting in too many goals he SHOULD be able to save. That first goal from Crystal yesterday is a clear examples of lousy positioning. De Gea or Alisson could have caught that in their sleep.
