Guts,spirit,fight,bollocks......call it what you want....but too many of our squad are lacking it.

Without Dinho we are are rudderless, few step up to the plate, the majority are happy to play at 90%.

We need to sign at least two more 'Captains',otherwise we will continue to come undone when teams with a real backbone show up.

Stones can evolve to be captain but a new midfield general to replace Fernandinho is essential.

I would have put Sterling at 50% today -looked like he couldn't be arsed. Sane at least tried though it was mostly wasteful. Delph gave 100% just that his 100% is 40% of what's needed.

I think we have players with plenty of toughness and spirit, Dave and Kev don't lack in that department, but what I think we lack is a voice, someone who's vocal and will get into the players, Mike Doyle, Andy Morrison type characters, even Craig Bellamy, but someone who'll will give the players a rocket on the pitch.

Nothing worse than blaming the character of the side. How many times did we show that last season?

Injuries, lack of cover in certain positions, and bad luck are far more significant. We have no cover for Mendy and Fernandinho so what happens we lose those two players, and the one player who might be able to cover either position gets sent off

People on here in the summer said it was a fuck up not getting a DM, it was so obvious that it would cause problems. Was stupid and complacent of the club not to.

We need 11 players dong their jobs professionally and with the right attitude.

That has not happened for a few weeks.

Those types of players are not so common. We went in for Jorginho but CFC went for his ex-coach. TBH having seen Jorginho play this season, I am not so bothered about losing out on him.

This topic questions the bottle of our side. I think that's a bit out of order tbh after what we did last season. Their character is not in doubt. Maybe a few injuries leaves us short in a few areas. We were winning or drawing games like this last season. This season we've lost the Palace and Leicester games because their players have hit screamers. You can't play great football all the time and when we haven't been able to this season, opponents have scored screamers against us.

Stones is behind Delph in the captain pecking order(Also Vinny, Aguero, Silva, Kev, Dinho and Otamendi).. He won't ever be our captain

Delph was shocking today and deservedly sent off. Is that leadership?

He’s also far younger than all the players you’ve listed. Chances are he’ll outlast them all.

Nothing wrong with any players attitude against Palace or LCFC unless you want to say Delph lost it. By then the game was almost gone anyway.

There was Marv and its a complete lack of pace and tempo in the play, hence having the wrong mentality.

I suppose that's all well and good when we're riding on the crest of a wave, confidence high and we have absolute belief in our ability etc, it's when the chips are down, our backs to the wall and need to dig in and fight, very few out for us there barring the obvious who are vocal enough to do that, imo anyway.

How does that top Sane's headed clearance going straight into path of Ricardo and him hitting a wonder-strike? Likewise Schlupp and Townsend. There maybe shortcomings in the side that prevent us from overcoming teams like LCFC and CPFC who were ultra-defensive and did a good job but it's not character. I look maybe at the quality of players who come in for the injured players.
