Really hope his injury isn’t that bad and he’s able to get a run of games soon. He was immense last year and in the doc he talked about how lucky he is to playing in this team. Gained even more respect for him and don’t want him to be leaving any time soon!

Biggest general fan there is, but I'm kinda glad he isn't in contention due to injury. As that would be have limited Kompany's game time.

There is only so much you can take from an aging captain before you start looking disrespectful. We are at the very edge of that.

Good to see him back but thought he was a little rusty, understandably. Got mixed up with Danilo in the first half when the latter took the runner but Otamendi never went out to close the winger. Similarly, for their goal, he initially went out fast but then was slow to reposition and never got tight to his man when the cross came back in.

Difficult for him and Kompany, with Stones and Laporte getting so much game time, but they should both get more time themselves in the coming weeks.

That was simply an error on Danilo's part. He should have simply gone back to pick up his man and let Ota' retreat back to the Center.

Also I sense Kompany will retire at the end of the season

Don’t think he was at his best today. Impetuous and rash in the challenge, often finding himself in front of the man and behind the ball, and he was often slow to take up position when we had possession.

Difficult one, as he’s gone from being someone playing regularly to someone even he probably acknowledges is first change.

It is to be hoped that more games in the coming weeks will see him back to form.

Did a lot of things right, did a few wrong. Could/Should be better, yes, but was more than decent today.

Why Pep decided to bring him back in is a mystery. Defence were doing fine until he started pissing about with it. Otamendi is an average footballer who should be on the bench 90% of the time as he was at the start of the season. Should never split the CB’s up unless you have to. Cup matches and injury cover only for him.

Looks about fifty years old on the pitch at the moment

His passing seems to have gotten worse, too slow or misplaced.
His overall game from a defensive point of view has dropped a few notches and I wouldn’t have him near the team unless it was absolutely necessary.

Maybe I'm overthinking things, but I thought the interaction between Otamendi and Pep was interesting last night. Pep usually puts his arm around players and as he went to for a moment, seemed Nico wasn't too happy and seemed to me to "pretend" to run back twice and ask his assistant's something.

Seemed a bit of an excuse and staged to not be near Nico as there have been rumours he's unhappy, unsurprisingly, TBF.

I recall how cold he and Bravo were last season after the Carabao Cup final and reminded me of that a bit.
