We get twice the crowds now and so the system of SC getting an allocation is an unnessary anomaly that belongs in the old days.

Yes am not disagreeing realise times change and fans have to change with the times and just because it worked then and was ok doent meen it right for this day and age .Probably the whole alocation system could do with a reviewIt’s not the mid-90s anymore.

I thought it would get round to Supporters Club again given the circular nature of this thread.
Without wishing to be Colin’s spokesperson, I thought I would address some misinformation / ignorance. Colin has said many times that City Matters is going to look at 100% of the away ticket allocation. Anyone, whose read this thread and seen Colin’s comments on Away ticket allocation over the years would realise he’s not a fan of away tickets for Supporters Clubs. It’s up to the Club to decided with city Matters what happens going forward and most fans will accept the decision. We have our say through Kevin Parker on City Matters anyway.
Most of us who help to run Supporters Clubs might think there are good reason for an allocation for Supporters Clubs. After all, we grow the Club’s fanbase and our Memebrs take up much of the slack for hard to sell away games, and the allocation helps with arranging travel (when according to comments on this Forum the Ticket site Friends and Family function is shite). However, we don’t lambast democratically elected people on the City Matters Group who don’t share our view. If the Club decided on a 100% allocation by ticket points then I would support it.
There is always a way to get in a game, ranging from using ticket points (the vast majority of our Supporter Club members have been season card holders for donkeys years) to even sitting with the swamp dwellers in Old Trafford.

No system will be universally acceptable to fans as there’s too much self-interest. obviously the mis-selling of platinum will need to be taken into account, the lure of double loyalty points, to get tickets, only to be taken away, very sticky ground legally.

The problem with reverting to a system like that is that the ticket site couldn't cope with the initial demand for the bigger away games, it struggles even with the staggered demands of the points system.We could consider how we used to do it before points systems (or a variation of it). I love the myth of supporters clubs taking up the slack, independent fans are not usually allowed to buy tickets for games that are selling slowly.
The one time they did, Arsenal semi final, i bought three additional tickets for friends out of my normal allocation of 5. Therefore i took up the slack by 60% of my allocation. The SC dont manage that.
In fact some branches were flogging Newcastle and Everton (because they’ve changed the date and so over oredered) tickets on here

I am NOT going back to getting to the ground at 5.30am and queueing up outside the ticket office for 5 hours on a freezing cold Saturday morning in February pmsl

Are they gonna keep the junior pull through ?
If points aren’t awarded it’s all gonna stand still and no one will move up or down the pecking order

what will happen when the rank and file are alienated, and we fall on harder times, even in Pep's 1st season we had 600/700 empties at Middlesbrough, that was going for a champions league spot, the real test of loyalty was pre 2008, and the truth was reduced allocations because the club dare not take the full number due to lack of demand.
I accept the younger fans deserve a chance, and a rolling system is much fairer, but all these decisions, seem to be based upon here and now, i can guarentee if the club fall on hard times, it will be the 900 who tipped up at Villa Park under Pearce flying the flag, unless of course they have been alienated, which appears a very strong possibility.

Sometimes you could call in before kick off and get your tickets. Not quite the clamour then as there is now.

Regardless of hard times or not we have a band of about 700 or so never miss a game. If they end up being excluded from the big games So that someone who picks and chooses gets a ticket, they’ll soon start to pick and choose too. It’s not just about the 90s. We were still getting those calls two years ago when our Club was being slaughtered in the media for slow ticket sales for the FA Cup semi final against Arsenal. We were happy to shift more tickets.
It might have been the same season, or the year before, when we sold tickets for the home midweek Derby against The rags (our Branch doesn’t request home tickets) to prevent the embarrassment of a home Derby not selling out.
