To be honest, I don't really recall him being out of form before Pep dropped him and he did well when he came on against Schalke. I'm also confused (and have said this a few times in other threads) why we've forced him out of the side by deciding to push Bernardo back out wide again. Just doesn't make sense to me given Bernardo has been brilliant centrally and David Silva has been a bit of a passenger since xmas.
The question marks over his character only seem to have come about because Pep prefers to drop him and substitute him over some of the others which has caused people to speculate over the reasons. He didn't do much against Chelsea but he was brought on very late in that game which was pretty cagey at that point. Yesterday is the only game where i've watched him and thought he was seriously poor. It always seems to me that Pep has it in for him a bit, but given his man management of players like Sterling has been so brilliant, it's hard to tell really what's going on. Hope it can be sorted though as I think he's extremely talented.
