The Labour Party

its not a load of nonsense at all. i never said they didnt have support in cities historically did i. i was on about the type of voter..... the core base - working areas in the midlands and the north - lots of of voters dont vote them anymore and are leaving them- thats not nonsense is it. they are very much going after the london middle class crowd. organizations like momentum are perfect examples of that. metropolitan for me nd most people has nothing to do with colour.

You are not getting what I mean, this metropolitan elite tag along with cosmopolitan was a Daily Mail and RW media term for upper miiddle class labour supporters in mainly london and cities during the last few decades, considered by many to be a coded anti-semetic trope for major jewish donors to new labour especially.

It has since Corbyns time now been used to classify the left wing groups as well off what would be termed champaign socialist types and to bash mommentum, whose grass roots members and activists are normal working class peopel in most communites a mommentum group is running.

Labour doesn't need to go after this so called elite as they already vote/support labour, but it is a great divisive tag line to pit mainly traditional northern labour against the london dominant leadership.

In my opinion.

The term is now used widely to describe this labour leaderships focus and I see your point, but I don't see that when I go to local meetings and other labour events.
The last major fully attended CLP event I went to had the mommentum lot there amd they were just local people from longsight leve, whalley range etc and some students.

Obviously you'll be ahead in the polls then, with all this populist support? Tony Blair had s 20 point lead at his peak so I'm guessing Corbyn's must be similar with the Tories all over the floor and being mid term.

Again you read a comment as something completely different, I gave an example of a local CLP to answer a specific comment, I never claimed their was widespread support for labour or corbyn outside of labour so the populist comment to misdirect the conversation has no relevance to my original post.

Breaking News: Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn has been hit by an egg.

Sounds like he wasn't hit by an egg. Somebody struck him with their fist while holding an egg. Not quite as funny.

I could never be described as a Corbyn acolyte, but I absolutely hate the wankers who think throwing eggs,
flour, or anything else at anyone, is somehow acceptable. Whoever did it needs time inside, or failing that,
dogshit pushed through his letterbox.

I agree, I don't think egg throwing is ok at all. I think the wider public perception of it though is that it's less violent/threatening than punching someone in the head. I think the full story of what happened here will come out eventually but there are a few snippets of info out there now that seem to be suggesting this person punched Corbyn in the head whilst holding an egg.

In court today i believe but that will just set a court date for a latter date. I find it strange that there isn't mobile footage doing the rounds. If he had a John Prescot moment it might do his polling some good, especially if the long term pacifist went all Mike Tyson for a couple of minutes, throwing left right combos to devastating effect.
