Football Leaks/Der Spiegel articles

Apart from watching these ****s in pain, another thing that tickles me is that the players we were signing to win the league weren't the Neymars, Messis and Suarezs of this world, they were the likes of Milner, Barry, Lescott, De Jong, Balotelli, Adam Johnson (ahem), Zabaleta, Kompany and so on before you get onto the likes of Nasri, Yaya and Silva. Players absolutely no-one else in the Premier League was precluded from buying due to their cost.

Hell, we even turned Micah into a champion. It's called good management

There is a guy called Nicholas here is his twitter https://twitter.com/NcGeehan
Who is a news reporter about human rights issues in the middle east.
When you look on his twitter account , its has suspiciously many Manchester City
storys. I will bet anybody he is paid from someone to trash talk City owners.
You dont have to be special list in human rights issues to think that City owners
are the biggest human rights problem. I just find this very suspicious ......
Think he is very much anti-UAE rather than anti-City (suspect he couldn't give a shit about us in reality), but realises linking us is an easy way to get traction in the British press.

His articles generally have a very negative headline about City, but then the actual article is about a fairly tenuous link to us.

My heart wants me to believe City are going to have someone hack into getting a million Der Spiegel emails and somehow turning it back on them.

My head says that's a dumb and childish thing to do, but my gosh it'd be funny.

It just seems strange that they always come out with the same line everytime. That the club will not be commenting about the article. It is time to get tough and start to threaten them with law suites if they do not stop printing these articles. By coming out with the same line it looks like the club has something to hide, and that there maybe some shred of truth in this matter. The fans deserve this.

I ignored my toddlers when they misbehaved. I found that if I reacted, they played up even more

As for whomever is behind this - I suspect FC Bayern - wait and see - a similar fate that awaited Napoleon Platani awaits them- there will be plenty of dirt on Rummeniger and Hoeness and it’ll get served cold at an opportune moment. I think the club are on top of this - the noise will get loader as it becomes more obvious we are winning the war.

From all of the media outlets in Germany Hoeneß probably hates "Der Spiegel" the most out of reason. I usually do not read this thread - but I have seen that "idea" a couple of times. That is totally ridiculous.

Yes, Hoeneß and Co. (they are not the only ones) like to use City and PSG in their rhetoric when they want to "show" themselves in a better light or to tell how much harder they have it. Somehow the same way the other clubs in Germany use Bayern...

I wonder if you know the English phrase ‘my enemy’s enemy is my friend’?

This guy speaks with forked tongue. Among his many lies, he maintains that Sheik Mansour does not own City, but acts as a front man for others. His source for this is a guy called Boyrhul. Boyrhul(sp?) Runs a cheap sheet about middle eastern business. He is a convicted fraudster; he was one of the D.Mirror's "city slickers" convicted of insider trading. Piers Morgan, of course, invested in their tips quite by coincidence.

I think the club may well have something to hide. We must have sailed pretty close to the wind to get the project off the ground. Since we were up against a cartel in league with UEFA, I think, morally, anything we did was justified.
So bring it on UEFA, prove it if you can. Corrupt bunch of bastards.

Considering it was supposed to be a (IIRC) "concrete case" against us, UEFA seem to be taking a long time having our bollocks for paperweights.
Don't think there is much to see here. I am pretty sure a good lawyer will see off any UEFA sanctions if they have the balls to try and bring charges. If push came to shove City could probably state that the emails are made up or at the least embellished as i doubt anyone would be able to prove otherwise.

Why ? Please explain.

I wonder if you know the English phrase ‘my enemy’s enemy is my friend’?

der Spiegel were one of the papers who helped get Hoeness put in prison for tax evasion, and if you remember right at the beginning of these leaks, they did a massive hit piece on Hoeness being behind the Super League. From der Spiegel's perspective, Hoeness is an enemy of football with his commercial thinking and backroom dodgy deals with the likes of our owners.

Definitely no love lost between those 2 parties.

An interesting couple/few minutes chat on City/FFP on the Totally Football podcast tonight. It's good to hear it discussed without the tabloid hype; gives perspective on how others really see it.

That bit is from 10:40. It's 3 minutes long. Before that (and for a bit after) they discuss the Bournemouth match. Before that it's Liverpool. Ah, what the hell, you may as well just start at the beginning...

Oh, and after that they're straight into who will win the league (for all of about 2 mins)

There is stories before 2012. But it has to do with his tax scandal and how some reporters of them acted. I do not have the time and actually the will to prove that with articles as I could do that just in German. But as much as I know Bayern communicates with the Spiegel only through lawyers when they do not like articles that are against Bayern.

But - like in the past you often do not separate ECA policies were Rummenigge was president and worked as a part of the pack of other (mainly top) clubs to when they work for Bayern. The FFP was in the interest of the old settled clubs in the ECA... Rummenigge is not ECA president anymore. And as I told in my previous post - the two just sometimes like to show how unfair the world around them is with pointing to the EPL clubs with their TV money and the Sheikh clubs because of the less limited financing. Usually they forget to show the sides in which Bayern has it easier.

Thanks for this.
Could you give an idea of how the German media view City? Either from a football perspective, or a FFP perspective?

Interesting that they think that charges will eventually be forthcoming, and that City’s defence will be to contest the legality of FFP rather than the specific charges. No real mention of the sub-issue of the source information having been stolen either. I’ve always been twitchy about the belief that there’s nothing they can pin on us if we just keep shtum. Interesting times lie ahead I suspect......

Thanks for this.

Given that they are the self-elected champions of inverted snobbery and the eschewal of material wealth (they make the dippers look like Caligula when it comes to piety), I think it’s pretty safe to assume they hate us on both fronts!

Thanks, I'm still not convinced that either bayern or the dfb don't have an interest in these "leaks" (stolen communications) though.
