If this is the case, the owners are better off accepting whatever punishment UEFA give, ......... It'll hopefully be a transfer ban .

Nope, I just think when someone says it looks like we've cheated, they have a point. The general attitude on here seems to be (a) that if you even dare suggest such a thing you're some kind of closet rag or at the least an "inferior blue", and (b) that it's impossible that our great club could have stooped to such things and that the evil UEFA in cahoots with god knows who, has made it all up. I think that's bollocks. Yes the rules are unfair, and yes the bastards are out to get us and yes we probably broke the rules to get around them. IMO.So you've gone over all the information and believe nothing is taken out of context, none of it is old news(already dealt with from our original punishment) and no leaps of faith/wishful thinking has been made on their part? We have since learned that Der Spiegel also have a history of their writers/editors inventing sources too.
So, if they look like bullshitters, walk like bullshitters,talk and write like bullshitters, then they are probably bullshitters. There's more than a few reasons to take most of what you're being told in the press so far with a pinch of salt, because they all have the same source.
Personally, I think they took the leaks, then spent months building their own narrative, inventing sources to fill in the gaps and are hoping the investigation proves them right. If neither UEFA or the PL can come up with anything, then I think it's safe to say it was all a load of bullshit.

I don't think it's gone unnoticed, to be fair. PSG have dealt with scrutiny from UEFA over FFP allegations as well.

Not a new dealWe could but I seriously doubt it... we did a deal once, it cast a nasty shadow and now the allegations are back.... probably in hindsight we should have been tougher last time and pushed for a day in court. If we do a deal now we look guilty and this will plague us forever. Now might just be the time to take FFP, UEFA and the couple of clubs who are behind this down....
UEFA can investigate, confirm that the email leaks are all about the period for what we've already been sanctioned, then scrutinise our later accounts which have already been ratified and say "that ends all the allegations, nothing to see here"

The lead byeline on the story is Paul Joyce. He is a Merseyside-based journalist who has strong sources at Liverpool FC and has also contributed to some Liverpool FC fan sites and podcasts. You can draw your own conclusion but I am sure the Times story is true. It's a clear smear campaign. I am not blaming the Times for reporting it but the behaviour of these clubs involved in the letter is a disgrace. The story says the clubs are "planning to send the letter" so it may just be an attempt to stir up some more dirt.I don't take the report seriously.Some hack writes a story like this with little or no substance behind it , doesn't make it true.
I think it will play out that UEFA investigate, find fuck all wrong, invent something and fine us. The rags, Bayern etc say, "right fuck you, we're forming our own footballing body".
This is the huge problem especially with the PL now involved. If we are penalised & the likes of Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Real, Barca & Bayern don't deem it sufficient what happens then? Utd & Liverpool could threaten to pull out of the PL. The big European teams could threaten to pull out of the CL. If these teams aren't competing then the money that the PL & UEFA make would be drastically reduced. I don't see either body willing to take that kind of hit.

You are free to have your opinion as far as I'm concerned, that if someone says that it looks like we've cheated, then they must have a point. I take that to mean, the amount of journos repeating it, has to mean there is something to it, right?
I simply disagree with you though and have a view that this is gullible, as I said they all have the same source. I also hope you understand you are ignoring the official club statement and by doing so, you're calling the club bullshitters. It's completely possible that these people have carefully misrepresented the information gleaned(notice I'm not denying it's existence, only that it's simply half of the puzzle) and then it's no wonder people(journos and whoever else has chimed in officially) have said "it looks like they have cheated", is it?
Either of us could be right, as you say the rules are bent anyway and we know we've already broke them and been punished for it too. If we have done anything extra, I will say fair enough not all the media who grasped the opportunity to beat City over the head with this, with both hands are complete ****s. If neither UEFA and the PL come up with anything credible, then you will also have to hold your hands up and say you shouldn't have doubted the clubs statement or made everyone else out to be blinkered for not buying it.

It's also possible that something that looks like a duck, walks like duck and quacks like a duck is actually not a duck but a clever penguin in disguise. This is rarely the case however.
