CL QF Draw - City V Spurs ===== SF V Ajax (If we get there)

I genuinely believe we are the best side left in the competition but that doesn't mean much, so in terms of favourable draws I'll go for:

Spurs
Rags
Porto
Juve
Ajax
Dippers
Barca

whoever we get hopefully we're away first.

Hope both us and rags away first.
They would go mental having to reverse their tie because of us.
Whilst also making it harder for them.

Definitely not home on the 16th or 17th for me it means i miss my first home game for 19yrs.

On this business of the authorities not wanting us and United playing our ties at home on the same night, so United having to defer.
I seem to have a very distant memory of us playing an F.A. Cup tie at the same time as the rags were playing theirs (of course, all kick-offs were at 3 p.m., then). The reason why I remember it is going up to the top of the Kippax (don't know why, never stood up at the top) and seeing their floodlights on across the city. That really brought home to me how we are in fact neighbours, like it or not. Must have been in January, because there are winter days in Manchester when the lights need to be on, even at that time (or certainly by half time). I don't think I've invented this memory. It's not the sort of thing you forget. Can anyone help me out on that one? Would have been at the end of the sixties, beginning of the seventies.

Those not fancying Ajax, they're not even top of the Eredivisie, and were recently beaten 6-2 by Feyenoord, so on their day they are good, but we really shouldn't be fearing them, it would likely be high scoring though.
I think playing anyone who likes open football is an advantage to us.

Think we all would if you could guarantee we wouldn't have Lahoz reffing the home leg and Brych the away leg and giving them absolutely everything.
You just made me reflect on the fact that UEFA are going to do everything possible to stop us winning this thing. They've spent the last 10 years trying to prevent us arriving at the top table and when we finally win the CL, then they have emphatically failed. It would be immeasurably more difficult for them to shit on us as CL champions as well.

I fully expect diabolical refereeing for our remaining matches.

It's a good thing you used the word 'reflect' and not 'realise', I'd have been worried :)

So when we are both drawn out of the hat to be at home first leg, this can be twisted by the paranoia brigade as just a way for United to be at home second leg, rather than for the aforementioned reason that its done for security purposes.

Apart from the above (City and united not being at home in the same fixtures), are there any other ways this draw will be contrived, as there are in both the group stages, and the last 16 draw ? Obviously you can now draw a team from your own country, but what about TV night fixes ?

My question I guess, is it just a straight draw ?

I still feel the easiest way to resolve any issues, is that all english teams are drawn together (gets rid of 2 as a bonus), and City v united resolves the other issue anyway.

There's no other parameters, just an open draw.

Semifinals also to be drawn so what if the two sets of quarters (of 4 English teams) then would play semi against each other ... that’d basically mean one English team to be in the final this year ... lots of possible combinations ...

UEFA’s issue isn’t about security reason that’s why both can’t be at home in the same week (even if one plays tue and one wed) it’s the away fans and more importantly their own uefa delegates and vips and sponsors and corporate will have difficulty finding hotels and all that’s the main reason same city teams or close vicinity teams are always kept apart ...

With that they moving the game might actually end up favouring them if we both draw home first, it’s them who get to change their ties around and not us ... should be that whoever is higher ranked (is us) so we should be given an option to if we’d like to play home first or second if both have drawn same home/away combos.
