If Pep is being honest about his selection reasoning then we should be pissed off at Sané.

Because imagine how shit at tracking back you have to be for Mahrez to get picked ahead of you? The guy with 3 starts in the league since December, the guy who hasn't even made it off the bench in our big games recently, who isnt exactly a defensive colossus either, his defensive contribution doesn't go much past simply being physocally present in our half when they have the ball.

For Sané's vastly superior talent to get outweighed by Mahrez's defensive work then he must be completely taking the piss in training.

I agree, it can only be Sané’s fault. Clearly an attitude and/or application issue. But it’s not a new thing, Pep has been trying to get the penny to drop with him since day one. Yet he seems further away from what he wants than ever before. Very real chance he gets moved on for someone Pep trusts.

My only reasoning for him not starting is that Pep 100% needs him against a lightning fast Palace team and then hopefully against a tired Spurs team.

But Pep should be playing him for me and we look far poorer when he isn't playing.

It’s up to Sane to make himself a guaranteed starter by performing in training. We have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. I doubt he’s just being left out for shits and giggles.

I think we’re clutching at straws with this one..... if he can’t play 2 games in 5 days, at his age, there’s something wrong. I’d be inclined to guess that this is a personal falling out between the pair, more than likely Sane questioning Peps authority in some way.. it needs sorting though as he could be the difference at the moment!
 
I suspect the original plan was to play Bernardo. The late injury probably meant it was tactically simpler to swap in Mahrez than play Sané and change things.

I don't know more than anyone else what's going on but there's a lot of unnecessary speculation going on with Sané.

Leroy didn't play at Wembley, didn't play the big match last night.
7 minutes as a sub more of a pain than an honour.

There will be a reason for Pep who said he needs any player for rotation, then doesn't do it.

Pep's positive comments about Mahrez are only defending Pep's decision not to pick Leroy IMO.
This story doesn't sound good at all.

I thought they had some extra time for talking in London.
It seems they didn't use it in the right way to get anybody over himself at this point of the season
and only being focussed on any single match for Man City til the end.

He does not even come close to Mahrez. Sane could not even make it in a dreadfull german team for the world cup. As we all know, he is a prospect, he has not prved much yet ! Playing in a team full of world class players does not make him a world beater. As much as I like the pace and technicality of Sane, he gives the ball away more often than Mahrez, his first touch is most of the time shocking and he does not defend well. Had Sane played yesterday, we would have had a very reminiscent score of against Liverpool last season.
Treating a city player who has done his atmost to join city and has not spared himself in pursuit for improvement since he joined the team a clown is just disgraceful.
 
Whatever bullshit is going on between him and pep it needs sorting out,the kid has proved himself numerous times,when he plays we have a spark and the other side are terrified of him,pep cutting off his nose here,park it and sort it out in the summer
