Yeh, it tells me they’ve got short memories! Check the thread, one or two learned their lesson from writing him off the last time. They kept their counsel when he was out of form, you’d do well to do the same.

The last time you wrote him off he won POS the year after. Then this week you pipe up and he goes and runs the game away at OT in the biggest game of the season thus far.

I said he could go on for years and cited Giggs as an example. Maybe he won’t, but you’re forgetting he’s played more minutes than most this season, we’re on course for the 2nd highest points total ever. So he can’t have been that bad.

He was actually very good until xmas and has had a couple of months of tricky form and you come out of the woodwork and suggest he’s finished. Just back the fella and get behind the team and stop trying to be clever. You’ll enjoy it a lot more in the long run!
Who said anything about him being bad? The argument was whether we should get his successor early coz he like every other player in their 30s eventually become less talented as they age. This is true for Dave as it has been for anyone else.

And for the record, I didn't right him off 2 years ago, I wanted his replacement Brought in. His replacement did get brought in. His name is Bernado Silva. You know, the current POTY.

Had a weeks rest & bingo!

Silva looked much more like himself today. I think he just needs rest, he hasn't been bad at all either, it's just he used to run games for us.

To be fair, it might be a blessing that we have proved we no longer need to rely on him to play our usual game. It's no good figuring it out the day he retires, transition while he's still here. Hopefully we can do the the same with Aguero and Fernandinho but those are big asks in this market.

Well said Sir.

Madness I tell ya!!
You ve missed the point pal.
Pipe down. Let's enjoy the 3pts.
A proper Manchester City team on a different day could have scored 10 .utd were fucking rubbish. So glad Silva Took the piss.so glad the whole team held their nerve....in the face of fooked up refereeing from hell...CTID

Amazing tonight. But think a tipping point may come when a successor generates a substantial goal return from his spot. You look at foden and realize the potential improved lethality of the whole side if his development continues. Not pushing Dave out the door, but can’t deny that he is in good goal scoring spots often enough but there’s a low conversion.

He just needed a rest. Foden stepping in against Spuds gave him that. He is still a world class midfielder he just needs to be used sparingly.

I feel like it was more a kick up the bum he needed, instead of a rest. He's had some ok rest this season.

Seeing Foden in that starting line up probably dawned on him a little bit, knowing that if he didn't lift his game Phil was going to step straight in.

You really think Silva needed a kick up the bum? Or do you think the number of games he’s played over the last two years with everything that’s been going on in his life finally caught up with him?

Don’t be surprised if he has his best ever season next year after a proper summer break.

Much like his old self last night, hadn’t been influencing games for a number of weeks like he used to, perhaps a culmination of a number of things such as the amount of game time he’s had to play. When a player gets to 33 years old each poor performance is scrutinised with speculation this is the beginning of the end, Silva showed last night that he still has sufficient quality, has the legs and is undoubtedly clever enough with the positions he takes up (not that that particular skill was in doubt) to influence an important game.

I envisage Silva being relied upon less next season with the continued emergence of Foden and the ability Bernardo has shown to play that role and hopefully a more injury-free season for KDB. Silva is still a genius and perhaps we can squeeze even more out of him next season with more rest time allowed for him.

Haha, you pipe down you cheeky monkey. Read the thread back before you start poking your nose in.

Go back 2 years and look what was being said about Dave the last time he had a drop in form.

He’s the best player we’ve ever had and a credit to the football club. He’s earned a little more respect than what’s been afforded to him by some of you.

Sometimes you have to sacrifice goals for other attributes. Xavi & Iniesta returned relatively poor goals. But no one could dictate a game the way they do, Silva does it just as well in a more difficult league.

Look how he took charge last night, Saturday he came on and we took total control instantly.
