I watch a lot of football and seen quite a lot of Liverpool games in hope they lose mostly.
Liverpool defensively last few years have been utter shite and they relied heavily on the front 3 (still do) - the signing of Alison and particular Van Dijk is the main reason they’ve kept up this title charge - to me he looks assured, calm, strong, beats players in the air and has great positioning - id compare him to Kompany in the way he plays.

He's a brilliant player but Laporte has been the better defender this season.

Ok fair enough. Weird that we've only conceded 2 more goals than them with effectively one defensive midfield screen, sometimes none.

Wonder how Laporte would have faired with three defensive screening midfielders.

Doesn't sit right with me that a player who went on strike to force a move gets POTY but it just proves how thick footballers are.

How Aguero has never won this award is beyond me.

Over 100 goals in his last 5 seasons alone - and he has never won it. It’s an absolute tragedy tbh.

How Aguero has never won this award is beyond me.

It’s all media driven and with the majority of footballers being thick they are like sheep and believe and follow what they are told,the greatest overseas striker ever to play in the premier league staggering..

Just like last year, a player who enjoys his first breakout season in a team that could still quite conceivably win the sum total of f*ck all, beats a more established player from another team who could quite conceivably be on the verge of creating something historic to the most prestigious players award.

I fully expect a 2 hour long documentary on this player on Channel 4 by the end of next week.

Rodgers and Suarez won awards when we won the league. He is a top defender and I don't begrudge his award but he wouldn't win it playing for City. Thats the truth.

Deserved it for me.

Sterling has been great but Van Dijk’s worth to them has been immense, especially when holding onto 1 goal leads.

I have a lot more issue with Salah over KDB than I do this one.

He is a very good defender, but the way liverpool set-up in front of the back four also helps towards those stats he has achieved
