Game of Thrones (season 8)

Lost was dire.
Throbes ending was OK, the only problem for me was the speed of Series 7 and 8. It should have been series 7, 8, 9 and 10 with better character development with Daenerys descending more slowly into madness. But the books "Winds of Winter" and "Dream of Spring" dont exist yet.

Daenerys has always had that mad streak; she's just previously killed people that the viewer thought we acceptable deaths. The last season brought the realization that she killed people who it was more convenient for her to kill, rather than people she thought had done wrong.

Compare her reaction to Viserys' death to Tyrion's of Jamie and Cersei.

With the story line they had the only ways it could have improved are as follows to tie of plot points from earlier series.
1. Jon fights the Night king but the Night King withdraws, raising the dead to keep Jon away from him.
2. The undead raised in the crypts, Starks, turn out to be not under the control of the Night King and defend the people in the crypts against the Night Kings armies who break in. (There must be a reason for "There must always be a Stark in Winterfell").
3. The hot springs in winterfell could actually have been maintained by a sleeping dragon who rises to help defend the Starks. (It goes back into the catacombs beyond the crypts after the battle).
4. In this episode, Drogon should have first torched Jon Snow after he had killed Daenerys but it had no effect on him except singeing his outfit. So Drogon then torched the Iron throne and then bowed to Jon's will. This plot device could then have been used for Jon to gain control of the Unsulid and Dothraki to send them on their way to end slavery. Grey worm just doing nothing was just crazy. He'd have tried to kill Jon instantly.

After watching all of it in the last few weeks I think I can offer an opinion.

First few series were very well written and acted. There were quality actors, like Charles Dance, to bring along the younger lot. When you kill off all the decent actors at a stage where the youth are trying to show their acting mettle then things will go downhill slightly. The same happened with Harry Potter. Look at Radcliffe. Not a good actor. Same with the ginger one. And most of the others.

The same with GoT. A lot of them are not really that good. Arya Stark is the only one of the family to show any semblance of skill. A bit of comic timing. The rest? Not really. Especially Mr Charisma Jon Snow. And that dragon woman's eyebrows act better than she does.

As far as the story goes, it was always going to be about the Stark family. Sure the nomadic horse men disappearing along with the unsullied just buggering off was a bit odd. Sure Fat Sam's story was a little weird. Sure there were loads of other bits that didn't tie in but the main grasp of the story, how the Stark's won the West(eros) and the North, was expertly told. Even if the acting wasn't. Apart from the eyebrows obviously.

This opens it all up for a prequel. Which I have no interest in. First up should be Arya and her travels.

I watched a video by a professional screenwriter on how he would have done the WInterfell episode and thought it was much better. In his version, Jorah dies in the first wave of assault on the white walkers, some of the dragon fighting scenes would have been changed but the best bit was where he had Bran going back into memories:

-first memory he goes back to before the mad king was mad, tells him he needs to stock wildfire as the dead will come. This causes him to go mad and he starts shouting burn them all and kills everyone (this is a call back obviously to Hodor so works well). He leaves, realising it was all his fault.
-he then decides to go even further back and stop the night king from being made by warging into him, it flashes back to the bit where the 3 eyed raven told him he should never stay in memories too long or he will be lost forever, he tries to stop the children of the forest buy fails and then realises he cant comeback out and becomes the night king.
- this answers why the night king wants to kill him so much as it will stop any chance of him being wiped out.
-jon gets past vicerion and attacks the night king who catches him mid-flight like he did with Arya. Earlier on in his version he has shown that Beric dies and Arya takes his face. In the background you see Beric as a white walker, he jumps in and slays the night king, then removes the face to reveal Arya.

There were some extra bits he added in and he changed some of the sequence of events in the episode, but it just shows how subtle changes could improve this season so much IMO.

I said last week to friends that it would be good if Dany realised John was going to betray her, and for her to burn John with the dragon fire, only for him to emerge from it unscathed. He then launches himself towards Dany and she falls and impales herself on the blades of iron throne.

Overall, it was a poor series with a disappointing conclusion, but every moment after Dany had been killed was terrible (apart from Sir Podrick).

Jon already got burned in Season 1 at Castle Black protecting the Lord Commander from the wights.

The final season has just been a shambles. The whole thing has felt so rushed. From the white walkers being wiped out in the first proper battle, to the shambles that was the final episode.

That final episode might be the worst episode in the history of TV, far too many loose endings left to tie up and all of them 'tied up' far too quickly.

- Daenerys just getting taken out like that, when it looked like she didn't trust him at all after what she did to King's Landing.
- Greyworm and the dragon just letting Jon Snow live after what he'd done.
- Arya all of a sudden wanting to travel the world, having shown not love for it before hand.
- Sansa taking the North away from the seven kingdoms and everyone just being happy with it.
- Don't even get me started on making Bran king.
- Cersei and Jamie dying under rubble, the former deserved much worse.
- Bron popping up twice all season and ending up on the council.

That's just the final episode, the whole season had awful writing.

Pretty much sums up my feelings. Also what’s the point of Jon snow being a Targaryen? It built up to us finding out in the last season but turns out to pretty pointless? What’s the point of the nights watch now? Just all very frustrating after so much has gone into it previous

Where the fuck did Bran go when he went flying in the crows before the battle, surely not to just see the Night King because he was gone ages. Could’ve been so much better but I feared this would happen after the first battle, not going to please everyone but just a majority would’ve helped.

I believe the first spin off for Arya is called

Arya Does Dallas

He became a fiery Jose Mourinho!?

**** me, I have forgotten a lot from the earlier series.
I have just watched some "best bits" type vids on youtube. The amount of little comments that make sense/have a deeper meaning now is unreal. GoT's youtube chans have still got a few months of material left just from that.
