34 years ago to the day I arrived in Spain to start a new life. Little did I realise that there would be such an outburst of anger towards the English after the tragic events in Brussels. The following day I was in the Plaza Mayor in Madrid for a mass demonstration against what had happened, and it was difficult for me to explain (with my limited knowledge of the language back then) that not all English football suppporters were the same as the scum who had been responsible for so many deaths the previous evening.

Always the victims! RIP the 39.

Makes me remember how much I hate these classless wankers. This was 4 years before Hillsborough. You can see from that video there are thousands of them jibbing in and climbing over the fences to get in. Absolute hypocritical scum. Heard they did the same in Istanbul and will probably do the same this Saturday. If you watch the aisles in Instanbul they were covered in people who didn't have seats because they didn't have tickets!!!

John Barnes using all his experience there by professionally taking the ball to the corner flag rather than trying to dribble past 18 men in Arsenal’s box.

Tbf he was probably that hungry his nut had gone. After all, he’d only had 26 toblerones at half time, rather than his usual 30.

Mwahahahah.
Mmmmmmm toblerone...........

Have I missed the point of the post? ;-)

Khaldoon is a smart operator, educated, cultured and accomplished, but there are two alpha males in this pic and he's not one of them.

I still remember watching this live as in those days the European finals were shown on mainstream tv. At first it just appeared another scrap on the terraces, of which there were many in those days. It soon became apparent though that something catastrophic was unfolding before our eyes. As the game was delayed and the images flooded in it was truly horrific to witness. It was shameful in my opinion that the game went ahead.
To be fair, they were probably in a lose-lose situation. If they'd abandoned the game, the animals probably would have kicked off even more.

I thought that,he looks unsure,i've never seen him like that before

It's the culture, Khaldoon is deferential to the more powerful Sheikh Mansour, that is their dynamic. Clearly Khaldoon is trusted and well liked and there are plenty of instances where there is laughter and conviviality, but the dynamic is always there. Pep has a different culture and a different dynamic with the Sheikh.

Pep works for Sheikh Mansour that's true, but on his own terms. We wanted Pep, waited for him, hired his two buddies and built an infrastructure just for him and one day he'll walk whether the Sheikh likes it or not, that's his power.
