If your a Manc it"s how most of us speak
He he he.

I grew up and lived so close to the ground my family knew when City had scored by just opening the window. Spent the late 60s 70s and 80s stuffing pound notes down my socks so me and my brothers wouldn't get told off by my mum and Dad for minding cars on match day.

Finally the closest I've ever come to being American is when my parents bought me a Grifter bike and I used to tear up and down Santiago street just off Claremont Road back in the day.

So I hope I class as a manc or I'm screwed.

I was doing the same in the 60s and it was only a bob or two /car. Stuffing pound notes down your socks for doing the same - really?

Don't knock it great money to be made in the early 80s as a 13/14 year old minding cars on Denmark Road and Moss Lane East. I recall yes some of the older kids were around 15 16/17 minding cars then. Not 20 though.

You never actually baby sat the game all match though. You shot back at half time and full time to collect your notes.

You could have got a ticket for the game cheaper.

Think Curry mile. Great Western St/ Rusholme, if your from MCR.

Yep, the posh bit, then. Acomb Street and all around there was very civilised.

Santiago Street, FFS?

About as close to Maine Road as Royal Eye hospital!!

I bet you had three square meals a day too, and mam never asked for tick?

£1 a car? Most cars in the proper Moss Side didn't even cost a quid ;)

Too hooked on chips and gravy. Jammy dodgers and Lilt. They were the Opioid of that time. I was living the American Dream. according to some on here who question my nationality. I better stop there as I am going off at a tangent. Anyway nice one.

"I'm ok my car has an alarm"

"Does it put out fires Mister ?"

Old ones are the best!

We used to even charge a fee to 'protect' the hot dog vans which started parking on the streets directly opposite Maine Road in the mid 80s.

We used to get a free Westlers hot dog or hamburger with those watery onions.

We thought we were dining like kings. It's only looking back now I see life was so uncomplicated then.
