Penalty Taker

Who should take penalties if Haaland is not on the pitch?

I would except the amount of penalties to increase a lot this season with the VAR up and running. I still think Sergio is your man

I think couple of his penalties have been saved in the Copa. Perhaps he needs some training to be more unpredictable. Other than that I agree, Gundogan is our best penalty taker.

Oh didn’t know that just been told he has missed a few for Brazil.

Gundogan is the best penalty taker. But isn't he likely to be "not on the pitch" too often next season to be our designated penalty taker?

I think Gundo will get plenty of game time but he won't start as many as some.

If Aguero or Gabby aren't the designated guys when playing, Sterling might be a good shout. One daft effort aside, he has been decent from the spot.

I thought the two penalties he has converted for us (Watford away and cup final vs Chelsea) were quite unconvincing tbh. I guess you could say he deliberately put them both into the roof of the net to give the keeper no chance but to me they were both quite lucky. Obviously it doesn't matter as long they go in but I wouldn't be comfortable with Sterling as our designated penalty taker.

Gundogan would be my first choice. If he's not on the pitch then I think you just give it to one of the strikers unless someone else emerges as a great penalty taker in training. I've always thought Kev and Leroy would be good at them as they are such clean strikers of the ball and can generate a lot of power.

Gundogan probably will get plenty of game time next season but if our best players are available and it’s a really big game at the end of the season I don’t think he makes the starting 11. Could we get away with just giving it to one of our strikers in those circumstances? Wouldn’t they need to be mentally prepared and have have taken pens during the course of the season?

out on the pitch, in the moment, it sorts itself out doesn't it. everyone out there knows who it should go to at the time.
Pep saying mahrez should take it off of Jesus, against the dippers, after it was decided created an awkward moment and upset the natural positivity of the situation and put added pressure on Riyad to deliver no doubt.
Unless it's decided before hand, it usually plays out correctly.

Whoever can kick the ball hard and low into the corner of the goal without a daft run-up.

Can you imagine Eddy running up the pitch to take it!!
Blasting a hole in the net! [emoji1787][emoji1787]

I think it's time we replaced Stevie Wonder as the penalty coach.

Sterling had the right idea as putting it top bins is usually unstoppable but he got the execution a bit wrong.

We’ve missed too many important pens recently not to make this a priority. I haven’t felt confident after being awarded a pen since Yaya stopped taking them.
I understand that even the best can miss, but fuck me, we seem to miss far more than our fair share.
Just hit a corner at pace and no goalkeeper is getting close.
