Alexandole Boris de Pfeffel Johnson

Several people saying that the Ambassador stepped down as a result of the lack of support Johnson offered on TV yesterday

Whilst Johnson was an utter **** to him, I don’t think he had much choice anyway.

I think Johnson and every politician should stand-up for our guy, barring any illegal activity. Trump is a child and should have laughed it off or said it will be discussed behind closed doors

Once Trump said what he said, it became very difficult but given he was finishing in 6 months anyway, Johnson should have stuck up for him in public. Maybe then have a quiet word and ask him to step-down due to a belligerent President, but stuck up for him nonetheless

Either that or his position is simply untenable due to some malicious twat leaking confidential notes.

I know Boris is the new devil incarnate for some but that interview had fuck all to do with him walking.

"sources" close to him disagree with you

I don't think there was one reason, as his position was untenable and he would simply be unable to do his job due to the President's reaction. That said, if the new PM was to give him his 100% backing then it gives the US President a problem. But like i said, back him in public and have a quiet word behind closed doors

Trumps reaction was for home consumption as most normal people agree with the description given. Now that he has stepped down, it looks(and is) as 'win' for Trump and will only embolden him

I was about to make this very point - with things as they are if Darroch steps down now he hands over the decision to replace him to May and Hunt who have both publicly backed him thus giving them the opportunity to appoint the right diplomat for the job rather than give Johnson the choice and have him appoint ( Farage ) whoever Trump tells him he can do business with. Sir Kims last act after seeing himself thrown under the bus by Johnson last night was to hold onto Johnsons lapel and drag him under with him.

He'll get written off as a Remainer Tory with a grudge by the Brexit at all costs bunch.

of course he will which is great - the more the Tory Death Cult react like that the more fractured and unworkable they become thus making their performance at the inevitable GE to come an unmitigated disaster.

Sadly the bus will not run over Johnson.

It will also encourage any wavering non-ERG Tory MPs to vote against Johnson when he tries to push his half baked Brexit agenda.

They should but let’s not expect anything off Johnson, that’s the right thing to do.

Darroch’s obviously concerned now that he and his family are targets so it’s time to go and I don’t blame him.

Yeah, it'll damage him a bit but not enough to make a difference - a large number will have voted beforehand.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the new appointee, and I really hope the appointment is made by next week.
Won't damage him much. Every Tory Party member I've seen interviewed appears to be totally detached from reality. They all just laugh every time he says something stupid.
