According to flight tracker the plane is still in Abu Dhabi.

Brian Kidd is collecting the trolley's right now, cashing in on the coins to help pay for breakfast for the squadDid you ever see the flick called "Terminal"
Too right we are. If you could draw up a plan to have the players in the absolute worst condition possible come the start of seasons, football pre-season joke tours would be exactly that.So we are back to moaning about pre season tours abroad again I see
That’s what all pre-season games are. They were probably glad of two nights extra at home but it will impact on pre-season. Arriving Tuesday morning and still an onward journey so little or no time to get
ready for the match. The wise thing to do would be to treat this game almost exclusively as a training session even if we get "hammered" in the process. Given that a lot of the party are only a couple of days into training and given the circumstances should not be risked, I would expect to see all the young lads to get at least an hour on Wednesday.

Could it be that the permits to land that plane in Shanghai never actually came through, so they flew to AD and hopped on one of Etihad's flights instead? Might explain why that plane is still sat at AD airport and there's photos of City staff in the AD departure lounge.Coming up to noon in AD and they are still there according to Flight radar :(
