Sane's estimated transfer value, using the average of a number of different sources (like CIES) is £123 million.

That would put him close to the top 10 most expensive players on the planet.

Given that, it's normal that his pay should be reflective of a top 10 player. If it's true that he would be on the same money as say Walker then that's too little. He should be one of our top 5 paid players at least, objectively.

Maybe the problem is we don't rate him that highly yet which has opened the door to the clubs that perhaps do. No way can Bayern afford £123 million though which is why they are trying to get him very cheap.

How many times have us blues said "well if you value that player at X million why aren't you paying him more?" The same applies to our players.

It's a shame Pep and Sane aren't a great fit because we will probably be taking into consideration his number of first team starts when we come up with a figure in addition to his long term potential.

One consideration should be that Pep might be gone in 2 years while Sane could be a better fit with the next guy and be 2 more years mature in nature.

The point you make about his relationship with Pep is oh so crucial, and to put another twist to the saga, who would we benefit from the most ? And who would stay the longest ?

I'm being honest when I ask that question, and deep down I know which one I'd sooner have long term, but maybe neither will be here in another 2 years, who knows, but if that's the amount of time they both still gonna be here then that's great, but wouldn't it be ironic if Pep signs him at his next venture.....a double kick in the bollocks, which could only happen to us

I don't think that would happen, certainly with the current relationship.

I get the feeling that they've never really been on the same page I don't buy the media soundbites but, saying that Pep will give Sane the opportunity to grow & it is only an opinion that the chemistry he has with 90 % of our squad isn't there with Leroy.

Leroy's skillset, imo, is not perfectly suited to the way City play & again imo, he is possibly capable of much more than Pep asks of him, but the only way he would discover that, & perfect it, is by being more greedy & less of a team player (ie Ronaldo).

We can see the reaction on here, when he tries to take on an extra player & loses the ball, or doesn't track back like an Olympic sprinter, We expect a certain kind of performance from all our players, but if Pep asked Ronaldo to do the same age 22, he'd just refuse & leave. In order to become the player he did, he had to be a greedy **** who will shoot from anywhere, rest up between sprints & play whatever position he wants.

Sané imo, would have to do exactly the same, if he wanted to emulate Ronaldo, which means leaving City.

The alternative is to reign himself in & become the best he can as a brilliant cog, in a brilliant team but not necessarily stand out as 'the' player. That of course is subject to him actually being able to do it, at the level we require, get in the team regularly & put in the hard yards.

Ronaldo would not be able to put in the yards Bernardo Silva does & still be 'Ronaldo'.

So it's not just wages Leroy has to consider, it's his whole life as a footballer. If he signs up for 5 years here, he will struggle to get away. It's a lifetime decision.

No I agree about him not signing him at his next club to be honest, hence why this deal now hasn't been agreed I guess, but he's clearly an asset to us,both monetary and on the playing side, just wish an end would be put to it,one way or other

Will boil down to mentality this.

Push to be a world class player under the best coach in the world in arguably the toughest and most competitive league or go to what is effectively an often one team, 2 team league at best and coast it.

Happy if he chooses us and the first option, also happy if he chooses the second as we will be well rid and can move on.

This is why you build a world class squad because it doesnt hurt as much when you maybe lose a player like this now and then.

His 3rd option is to leave, work on his game & become much better than he is now.

I’d be gutted if he leaves but he didn’t have the best season and something is clearly not right. If he does go I hope we don’t get fleeced, he’s got all the potential to be world class.

Sane will want game time, Often Sterling is favoured for the left hand side and i think that's also Raheems preferred position, Sane i can't see as a right winger and i think Pep said he can't play down the middle then you have to fit in Aguero, Bernardo and De Bruyne

Looking more and more like he will go to me.

Which is a huge blow.

Losing vinny and sane is not progress no matter which way you look at it. 10 goals and 10 assists from him as well in not that many minutes.

Hope we get 100 million and buy some great talent.
