Away tickets

Thought that was Bolton could be wrong tho

Both of them had a habit of flogging us at that time. We had a lunchtime kick off at the JJB once where we got 5000 tickets and sold 1500 and we had a couple of seasons where we didn't get anywhere close to filling our allocation at Bolton. Both were because Whelan and Gartside had put ticket prices for the local clubs up to £40 after being £20 the seasons before.

Gartside and Whelan are well know ****s and tried to bleed everybody they could dry.

Not strictly true mate as I qualified for every game last season, but still think the system was flawed.

I always found it weird that having qualified for Bournemouth, United and Liverpool, I was then rewarded with more loyalty points, which pushed me even further ahead of those who hadn’t

However, my main gripe has always been the Old Trafford derby, when I regularly find myself surrounded by people who are never visible at other away games.

The most noticeable was the 2-1 night match in 2013 when I was on the same row as 8 French speaking tourists, all wearing half n half carves.

.
Your last paragraph is the main problem with the away ticketing at matches.
What you have described is not an abuse of the points system, it is City who are giving to many tickets away to all and sundry, to grow the brand.
If they want to grow the brand do it at the home matches where there are plenty of seats available

If they are struggling to get tickets for away games they must have stopped going to home and away games when the points system came in surely???

Obviously... I’m just pointing out that lots of loyal fans who did put the hard miles in struggle to get tickets. Ie another reason to try and improve the system

Ok Mr Morally Fucking Perfect
Likewise myself spending £90 for a home ticket at Arsenal last season then meeting someone in the pub who got one in the city end through a supporters club who only had 60 points.
This whilst posting from Tokyo so guess where I’m going tomorrow after flying in from Hong Kong.

Denying an Arsenal fan a ticket for one of their home games. Tut Tut.

Only having 60 points is quite an achievement!

It was a genuine post and a genuine reply although I will accept your apology. The issue is that everyone talks about points whores but do people genuinely think there are individual fans who decide to buy an away ticket just for the points so they have enough to go to the derby or Klanfield? It's just a non starter. I will admit I have in the past occasionally bought a ticket for mates who have asked if I am not going can I sort them out - these are usually the ones that go very low in points - and occasionally I have had a spare ticket due to my son's arrangements changing near to match day. Does that make me a whore or my son? I don't think so. I know of one blue on here who went to what I suspect is 90% of all away games last year and he bought his ticket off here pretty much every time. Is everyone who helped him out a whore as well. However it appears that the sources that are regularly abused are by the supporter branches and by the corporates yet nobody bats an eyelid hence my comment. I for one think that the points whore is a myth although it appears I may be in the minority.

Wigan wasn't boycotted, just not many turned up as it was £35 instead of £25 teh year before, however ehrn the story is told in another 20 years it will be £50 up from a fiver.

The fake Bolton boycott was £28, but because there was some story of a boycott most fans had to pay £36 for upper tier as they made us fill that first.

We only got 2036 for Everton a couple of games before Wigan, the prices vary but were around £27/£28, compared to 1,961 for Wigan, both on the telly on Saturday, but Everton was 515 and Wigan 1245. Blackburn 2,807 earlier that season out of 7k.

The fact is we had no glory fans then.

Not a lot can be done other than take points off those who have built them up over the last 16 years. Don't think that would improve the system!

Surely games like the community shield should offer loyalty points, thousands of tickets left, surely a decent incentive would shift a few, for those who want to progress the door is closed, how can that ever help sales.

Nail on head regarding attendance. It is exactly those who can’t be bothered to go to this game who shout “foul” when they can’t get to old Trafford or anfield.

Give them a midweek away game with travel of over 50 miles and they are nowhere to be seen unlike those of us who have over 25k points. - why do we have those points? Because we go to every game not just the ones we feel entitled to!!!

Rant over. Couldn’t give two hoots about loyalty points but heartily sick if the implied criticism of those of us who are at the top of the tree - we got there because we did the hard yards. Yes we all lost points from the 70’s and 80’s and 90s but a personal record of 8 years without missing any game except US preseason friendlies means I am entitled to feel entitled!!!

Pretty sure that Everton away game was a 3pm kick-off. Micah equalised in about the 94th minute.

The reasons for some of our poor away crowds at the start of that season was as much to do with us having a shite second half of the season in 2005-06 as anything else. The poor turnout at Wigan was 3 fold: Ticket prices up a tenner from the year before, 12.45 kick-off on the box, and City being utter dog shit. My mate left at around 60 minutes and was back in a pub in Levenshulme before the final whistle had gone. Our supporters club branch took a minibus with just 9 fans on it. 6 weeks or so later we played Villa away midweek. It was a match I wasn’t originally planning to go to as I was returning from New York the day before but after we got beat 4-0 at Wigan I thought fuck it, I’m going. That night the Wigan 9 became the Villa 7, yet when we played at Old Trafford less than 2 weeks later, we miraculously had about 90 branch members turn up for that one.

Yeah it was 3pm after checking an no fans turned up, so hardly a wiggin boycott with a very similar number. There was no one in the cheaper back 10 rows on the lower as they were the restricted cheaper ones they were meant to sell last, I insisted on buying them and there were just two of us, but decent seats as we could sit right where we wanted. No booze in he ground either in those days.

Villa away midweek twice in 2 years, and it was the cheapest away was around 1000 from city for the Vassell 1-0 and the Distin classic for 3-1.

However we need to change the system as the middle class fans want to 'catch up' now we are good with their discriminatory 'equality' changes for younger fans as a Trojan horse. Led by a middle class fan short of points.

Can you explain why you missed the us pre season friendliest before we make a judgement?
